OK here is the problem. Driving the truck w/ stock tuning or any aftermarket tuning & or stack the egt's tend to be about 350-400 as you pull to a stop. If you sit there idling in gear you see temps rise to 375-425. If you put the truck in park or neutral and take a load off the motor, the temps go down to the 350-400 range again. I have noticed a lot of oil in the intake boots, the "pcv reroute" is next. I've checked the front of the intercooler, it isn't blocked or restricted. Could the oil be getting into the intercooler & causing flow issues, the fins on the turbo melted from too much heat, or am I just paranoid now that I'm playing w/ some tunes that make some heat and tend to watch the gauges more now? You guys that have wasted lly turbos, anything sound familiar? McRat & Ben? I haven't noticed any grinding noises like turbo bearing failure. The boost #'s haven't dipped either. So here's where I'm at.  Any ideas?
p.s. As the truck sits now: 5 inch exhaust no cat, fingerstick/egr blocker, boost stick, trueflow intake tube w/ K&N drop-in & AutoMeter Ultralite Gauges

OK here is the problem.
I missed it, what's the problem? A search would show this to be what most LLY's see, pre-turbo, with a little heat soak.

I usually idle until my Pryo drops below 300 degress. If I idle long enough, it will actually drop below 250.

I dont think ive ever gone below 300. of coarse i might not be waiting long enough

It usually takes 30 to 45 seconds for it to drop below the 300 mark.

If I idle for about 60 seconds mine fall below 300.

Mine will fall to 300 also if I idle in park for 45-60 seconds, my concern was the raise in temp idling at a stop light. I wasn't aware of "heat soak" nor could I find any similar threads.

When you come to a stop, underhood temps rise, and that rise can be 100 degrees in 30 seconds, depending on load.
That will translate straight to the egt, since the CAC is barely functioning at a stop.
The other reason for fluctuation, could be the cycling of the egr at idle.

Just another term for full operating temp. Later! Frank

Those of you that are seeing 300* in 30-60 sec must have your pyro in the exhaust because I know multiple people with the pyro in the manifold and mine could idle for and hour in -10* weather and it would never hit 300.
If mine idles for about 2 min it will drop to around 350.

I think you are trying to say Exhaust Post Turbo?? There will be a major difference in the tempatures Pre Turbo and Post Turbo. I have my Pyro mounted iin the Left (Passanger Side) Exhaust Manifold twards the rear and my idling tempatures never go below 350*.

If I let mine idle in park long enough, they will drop below 250 as well.
