Ok here's the scoop, I swapped out my 01 ecm with one from a 02. I have been throwing codes related to egr that I never had a issue with before. Is this something I can just use EFIlive to disable the related vaules for the egr and forget about it, or is something going on now? I need to do an emmisions test real soon and don't want to have issues with the state on getting my plates renewed.

Send the stock 2001 file to me and the 2002 file, I will fix it for you.

I would suggest that you select a "donor" VIN/program from a non Cali truck.

Tony,

I noticed that in the 02 OS there's a table for the EGR and the 01 don't have the EGR. I know mine doesn't. Since there is no EGR or a disabe feature in that table. Will it set a code or create a problem with state emission inspection? I know I can answer this question later in the week on setting the code. Have a few long distance trips planned and swapped the ECM yesterday.
Thought I would ask. So if it does happen I know what maybe to do.
I hope it not an issue.

To my knowledge the 2001 trucks did not have EGR, except maybe California Trucks.

The 2002's had EGR and Non-EGR trucks and some 2003's as well.

If you have no EGR then simply change all EGR related Codes to NOT REPORTED as your truck is not equipped with those components.

In my stock 2002 file all the EGR related codes are listed as not reported because I have a Non-EGR truck as well.

GM probably decided to leave all the codes in the Calibration and shut them off for the trucks that do not need them turned on.

Tony,

Took me a little white to figure out what you were talking about:confused: . I thought the change would be in Engine Cal. I see it's in Engine Diagnostics:cool2: .

All set:rockit:

Ok, we can turn off the codes with diagnostics. But which table is the PCM going to use. EGR on or EGR off?

What you really need to do is alter the operating parameters.
In other words, disable the EGR once RPM goes above 400, or if engine temp is above -30 then turn EGR off. This way you know the ECM will always be running in an EGR off state.

Cheers,
Ross

Only Ross and GM know what goes on behind the calibrations, but personally, I'd rather have a tune that started out as a Fed w/o EGR just to be sure...

Thats what I do on all of my tunes. It seems like the next step is to just get rid of the egr all together.:D

John, I agree, that is best.
There is many numbers in there that we don't know what they do, one day I should do a EGR section comparison between Fed and CA and see how GM did it.

Cheers,
Ross
