Usually if it's not original engine ot tranny they will say in the ad as a selling point ie engine new at 300,000. I'd bet it's original.

I am hoping mine will make it to 300k. Those are some big miles. I would certainly think the injectors among other things have been repalced.

It has a 105 gallon tank makes me think all highway miles. Maybe that is why is made it so long

M1Garand
03-25-2006, 05:33 PM
That is a lot of miles but diesels do well with mostly highway driving. I ran my Powerstroke 376,000 miles of 90% highway driving and the original motor was still solid. It needed its third tranny and clutch rebuild at that time though. Maintenance, your driving style, and sometimes plain luck go a long ways.

mine just turned 362,000 and my Turbo just took a crap. Other than that its prolly tighter than most 60,000-80,000 mile rigs

VIN checks only cover dealer work, it could have had something done by another mechanic. I know if my truck broke outside of warranty the dealer would not be getting my money. Still impressive.

If he wasn't happy with the mileage he got out of that truck... I'd hate to see what he would have to say about the next one.

03-27-2006, 03:31 AM
I wonder how many thousands of dollars that sucker has had spent on it to keep it running?

I'd almost have to check out it's service history to believe that they could get that many miles out of it without spending at least $20,000 on it judging from my own experience with these.

I have made it to 328,000 til my injectors were replaced and then just last week my Turbo went at 362,000. Other than that it is tighter than most 60,000mile 04's

ISUZU quoted 500k?

dmaxtechreno1
03-27-2006, 10:08 PM
yes izuzu states that with a proper maint schedule and lack of abuse they expect the 6.6 to last 500k before needing freshen up. so there it is for what its worth

Unless you do alot of driving a Duramax should outlast the truck. I have a S-10 with 330,000 miles without having any motor work done on it yet. If it wasn't for the Rhino that I had sprayed all the way around the lower rockers it would be in pretty bad shape.

DURYMCGEE
03-28-2006, 08:45 PM
Holy crap it brought $12,750, thats alot for a 2wd truck with that many miles!

03-29-2006, 01:13 AM
I know that seems a little high. Somebody must really want to keep it going to see how long it will keep running strong!

Paul Clancy
03-29-2006, 06:09 AM
My guess is it was a pilot truck, daily highway miles, a bit of towing. No racing and no big mods, regular maintanence. My dmax is driving like new at 149000mi so looks good for the future.

Paul Clancy
03-29-2006, 06:24 AM
Looking again at the hitches and extra tanks setup, could be a hotshot rig, even more impressive. Dealer service mgr told me he's seen these dmax trucks that deliver RV trailers, campers etc from manufacturers to resellers all over north america with HUGE miles.

In all honesty the truck looks great to have almost 500k on it. The driver's seat is a little rough but thats about all.

Mine has less than 70k on it and my leather drivers seat is toast. Damn you GM and your inferior leather crap!

I just turned 74k tonight on mine and my driver's seat is showing some wear. For the last 6 months I have been putting leather conditioner on every 2 weeks. Before that I was doing it monthly. It seems to be helping some but most of the damage is already done. :(

Two new seats on ebay seem to be going in the 300 range + shipping. The stealers want 250 for just the leather cover on the driver's seat.
