Alright i finally got around to taking apart my 6.5. My uncle came over who owns a local shop and he said since im replacing my heads and head gaskets i would have to resurface the block. I guess i can see why, but that would involve taking the whole block out and taking it to a machinist. I think it would be a lot easier jsut to buy a new or remanafactured block. Could you guys please tell me that my uncle is wrong

People regularly replace head gaskets wothout resurfacing the block deck. It works, but not as well , depending on the degree of deterioration of block surface.
I renewed heads on my 6.5, and resurfaced the block in process because i respect the effect of a good compression chamber seal. Many folks who replace head gaskets(and maybe heads) without fixing the block surface find the engine doesn't work as well as expected.

A new engine would probably be better, but more costly. IFF your rotating+reciprocating components and block seem to be in good condition, the labor to remove/reinstall engine might be justified.
If the block is cracked, go for new.
