Got a 2004 LB7 dmax. Installed a juice w/ attitude. I have problems sometimes starting it. Hit the key and it just cranks, like it has no fuel. Crawl under the hood, unplug the juice, plug it back in, and presto......it works again. It like unplugging it resets it???


Anyone ever ran it to this?


I also spoke to aaron at edge, He said they are working on the problem..... that doesn't sound like a fix is near??

I have had the same problem that you mention. A number of others have also. You do not need to disconnect the Juice. Just turn-off the ignition and open the door (removes all power). Then turn the key on and it will start.

I am going to take another route shortly. Have been way too busy at work to address the Juice problem (Only use truck on weekends). I need to call Edge up one of these days to discuss the issue.


I like the Juice/Attitude, but cannot take the no-starts occasionally happening, especially if it occurs when the wife drives the truck. Looks to me like Edge has a problem. Hopefully, they also have a solution.Edited by: OC_DMAX

Same thing only happened to me once,but seems to crank longer to start than it used to with plain Hot Juice.Also had a problem with it shifting into O/D on that same start up.Has worked fine since then.

For now unplug the monitor and run like std Juice.

I removed and reseated the Juice plugs and SES light went away. I used the Quad to read and remove code later that day.


I am still undecided as to whether or not I will even use the monitor.

Your closer to the situation than most of us. When the programming update is available to fix the "no start" issue, please start a new thread on this forum to let everyone know.


Fortunately, this situation is not a safety issue. Just a PITA, as GMCSLEHD mentions above. I can adapt to it (temporarily), however others that use my truck seldom may get caught by surprise.

I have had the same problem with my 03 several times. Edge is sending me a Beta unit for testing that they think will correct the problem. The beta unit has some new software that should take care of the problem. I should receive the new unit this week and will let everyone know if my problem goes away. Lets keep our fingers crossed. I love the Edge and would love to be rid of the crank no start issue as it is a PITA.

Mine seems to have mostly cleared up since that first weekend. Edge sent me another box, but by the time it got here, it seemed to run fine, so I never installed it. Edge told me to keep it a few weeks to see, but it only had "no start" 1 time. So I'm sending back the "replacement" since it is the same as what I have. Waiting on the update I guess, but it's really not a problem now, especially since I know I don't have a "bad unit" or truck problems...

According to Aaron at Edge (actually called them) you have two options: 1) once you cycle the ignition on, wait 15 seconds before trying to start, 2) send in Juice for newest upgrade [(at least for the HJ) newest version is 4.81 IIRC]. I've tried the 15 second approach for the past week, and haven't had any No Starts. Maybe I'll send it in for the upgade here soon, but it sucks to be w/o the Juice.

The 4.81 program has been shipping for some time now, but I don't think it is officially a definite cure.





A note is being sent in all combos stating to wait 30 seconds in the event of a no start. The no start condition has not been all that common by my experience. I've never experienced it myself, but Elaine may have on a recent outing with my truck. Definitely an inconvenience, but not detrimental to the engine, and not incurable...

I had the no start several times after installing the Juice w/Additude on my truck 2 weeks ago. Spoke with Aaron and Edge and he said that a new release in programming fixes this problem. On Std Juice I believe you go from 4.73 to 4.80 or 4.81. My Juice is on its way back from UT as we speak.....hopefully the problem will be solved. Aaron said the main improvement in the new programming was to correct for no starts. I hope so, because the no start is not something my wife who sometimes drives the truck will live with. By the way, my no start was everytime I tried to start the truck once it was at full operating temp...

I just purchased a Juice set up with the moniter but haven't installed it yet. How can I tell which version I have? If I have to send it back I'd rather do it before I install everything else,

where do i send it? I just got it and it has lit up the Service Engine Soon light everytime, but i can get it to start the 2nd time usually, and after the 3 start cycle the SES light goes off until the next time it cranks away. It seems to do it only when my Fiance gets in the truck, weird! anyways it is driving me crazy!!! any help would be greatly appreciated!!! thanks -Jeff
