I ordered my 04 GMC 2500 D/A on 3/30/04. I'm just bouncin off the walls here! this is my first diesel and I can't wait. Gonna be great pulling my 4 place enclosed snomo hauler, and now the real reason. Momma wants a fifth wheel, so......... dads gotta have a bigger truck right?!

Been poking around this site for a while now and finally registered. I'm really looking forward to getting to know you guys and hope I can ask a few questions as I go along.

For my first question. Will I get it for memorial day?!?! (just over 8 weeks?) or am I dreaming? no TPW yet

Zoggan,

Read this thread:

Howard will keep you up to date on your truck. He told me where my truck was every step of the way once the TPW arrived. My dealer had no clue where it was.

Zoggan,

Barring some strange occurrence, odds are you'll get it by Memorial Day, but it might be tough getting it soon enough to get all the goodies and the hitch installed. I called to get an appointment for the B&W Turnover ball hitch put in mine last week, it's getting put in on the 21st of this month....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

Something about being them being busy right before Easter. Fortunately I don't need it yet, just planning ahead.

Not to toot my own horn, but this thread was put together just for folks like you and covers the time frame between when you order and when Howard can start doing his thing. He didn't want my information until the TPW week:

Also, you'll be getting a new LLY engine, so you may want to direct your future posts to that area for engine questions.

Congrats and make sure your tranquilizer scrip is handy....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gifEdited by: Zeeb

Thanks for the info guys, I will be sure to ask Howard if he would be willing to help yet another Dmaxer. I will be sure to post in the LLY section after thishttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gifI kind of figured more folks probably were here, at least for now. Yeh, I will have a lot of work to get done to get the rig set up before Memorial Day even if all goes like clockwork. But hey, I like a challenge and always the optimist, I made a reservation at the campground where our friends are going.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif

Zoggan, don't forget to consider your break in miles. Not just truck miles, but towing miles. Check your manual when you get her. If I remember right, my LB7 was 500 miles for the truck first, then another 500 miles of towing at 50 mph or less. Good luck!

I will hopefully have a couple hundred new truck crusin miles on before I have to drive a little over 4 hours one-way to pick up the new trailer. It will be close, but in order to treat her right, I'll drive around all night the night before going to get the trailer if I have to!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif(Oh to have such problems) It will tough towing at 50 or less won't it? I'm sure she's gonna want to run!

Too much fun overload!!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wacko.gif

Congratulations on your new truck ZOGGAN. I ordered a new 2004 CC D/A also, mine was ordered on 3/9 and my TPW is 4/12http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif. I am trying to get the SO number from the dealer so that I can e-mail Howard. All my friends have the Powerstroke so I am the odd man out but I feel I made the right choice.

I hope you get your truck in time.

Hehehehehe,

I loved it when the wife told me the fifth wheel was the only thing she would accept. I said: But honey, I'll need a bigger truck! She said: You haven't ordered it yet?!?!?!?

Skibum,

One of my closest friends has had 2 7.3 Powerstrokes and absolutely loves them. He's convinced their the only "Real" Diesel engine to have. He's already jabbing me! But I've always been a GM guy, so it came as no suprise to him that I went with a Dmax. We do alot of snowmobiling together and are forever comparing fuel mileage on our tow rigs, we have the same trailers. My current truck is an 01 Sierra 1500HD, pulling my snomo trailer I'd get 9 and he'd get 11, and I would have to listen to him for the next hour on the radio givin me a bad time about how nice it was to have that diesel, no shifting up and down, no screaming engine, Etc. (I didn't think 9 was bad for a 6.0 gasser). I'm sure the new truck will be a formidable weapon in our little battle!
