As most of you have read my Tough Luck post you probably know about my situation. My question is how tough is Carbon Metallic to keep clean. I know what a pain black can be, and I was wondering if Carbon owners have the same problems or if its quite a bit easier to keep clean and swirl free? My local dealer has a Silver Birch CC,D/A SLT, coming in this week, and a Carbon Metallic one coming in at the end of April. I made up my mind Im going to buy one of these trucks and I was just wanting a little feedback.

I have the Carbon too. IMHO it's just as bad as black to keep clean. My last GMC was Pewter and it was great!! Waxed easy and didn't show the dirt. I figured I needed something different this time though, and being that it stays in the garage all week (I have a company car for work), I thought I would go with the Carbon. One thing I have to say is that when it's all shined up, it looks AWESOME!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

I wonder if Chevrolet's Dark Grey Metallic is the same as GMC's Carbon Metallic? My Chevy should be shipping this coming week. I'll let you know how the upkeep is.

I love my "Dark Grey Metallic". I am using Zaino and don't have any problems with swirl marks. Dust shows up on it - but not too bad. I think it is one of the best, if not the best, colors GM has - I must like it I ordered my truck with it. Chrome nerf bars and S/S Dura Flaps make a Dark Grey Metallic/Carbon Metallic lokks very sharp.

P.S. The Dark Grey looks good with snow on it also. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Up.gif

I have it and I absolutely LOVE the color! Its like a custom paint color! BUT, its just as bad as black to take care of. BUT, its more worth the effort than black because its such a great color http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Thanks guys! I appreciate your replys. Haveing a little feedback always helps me with tough decisions. I saw a carbon GMC today and at first I thought it was a custom paint job. All clean and shined up it truely is a sharp color.

I also have Dark Grey Metallic. The thing a like is when it is clean and shining, it seems to change color in the sunlight to a real deep purple. It looks awesome.

When clean, the Carbon Metallic has the most beautiful iridescence to it. Better than any other color IMHO. In low light situations, it can have a different color cast to it based upon available light, anywhere from deep blue to deep green.

It's GM's best truck color ever.

BTW, Zaino

I got Carbon Metalic and I think it looks great. I wash the truck twice a month.

I have DGM and I love it. The blue to green to purple color change in the sun is like no other. Had Three Indigo Blue Trucks, and I thought that color was awesome all spit shined up, and then I saw the DGM and fell in love with it. I think it doesn't show that bad of swirls from towels, plus McGuires cleaner wax takes care of that real fast. Silver Birch-well at least in my opinion- is not as good look as pewter was, this silver birch has like a pink tint to it, anyway what ever color you pick, you'll enjoy the hell out of the truck!

Love it when it's clean, sure wish it stayed that way longer, though.

I love my Dark Grey Metallic chevy. I get alot of compliments on the color. I just did the McGuires 3 step wax process over the weekend and the truck looks awesome. Finish is as smooth as silk! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif Its so bright in the sun that it can be blinding.

I have the carbon metallic and just love the color. My previous truck was black and i have to say that the carbon is just as hard as black to take care of. But is well worth it.
