A plan is afoot to put a Duramax in a Camaro.
The question of the suspension of the car handling the weight has been brought up.
What is the weight difference in the two engines.
PS this is one of the "smaller problems"

doing a quick search on google looks like the 454 is 700 lbs and duramax closer to 1200lbs.

Might have a little problem with hookup with the rear tires, there being so much weight on the front end
That I would like to see.
You may move the engine far back my moving the firewall, moving weight to the rear. If it is for street use then this is not feasible. Like others have said you may have a hard time getting it to hook up. handling will be a bigger issue!

Are you refering to a 4th gen? If so:
Camaro body? Yes. Camaro chassis? No.
Might be time to call the tube chassis folks...
After building and racing 3 4th gen Camaros... Just my opinion...

This is like envisioning a motorcycle seat ontop of the allison with a camaro body built around it.

Quote from duramaxdiesel.com
"The Duramax 6600 weighs only 836 lbs., thanks to the use of aluminum in key components like the cylinder heads, crankcase, accessory drive brackets, intake manifold and flywheel bell housing. Aluminum is lighter than steel, which is an added benefit that supports the over-all fuel economy goal"

And by "hookup with the rear tires" you mean "the rear tires not actually touching the ground."
