Well I am thinking about getting an after market turbo. I was looking strongly at the aurora2000. Tell me what you guys think about this turbo, I heard that EDGE is coming out with a turbo. Whats it going to be all about? I dont do alot of heavy extreme pulling but I do alot of drag racing, and some mild pulling. I dont want to deal with head studs, but at the same time, I dont want to blow head gaskets. And also, when I do the turbo whould it be wise to put aftermarket exhaust manifolds on??I do not want turbo lag. let me know.
Thanks Merlin

The Aurora 2000 is an excellent turbo. We have not put one on a Dmax yet, but have put several on 04-05 Dodges and they are very impressive for such a small turbo. It will not move the air that the 5000 will, but it has lightning quick spool up and does suprisingly well on the big end.

Built tranny??

Merlin is running a zf 6speed with a macs dd clutch, so the answer to having a built trans would be, yeah!!!!!

I would go with the BD turbo. You can PM SubMan631. He "had" the Aurora 2000 on this truck for a while. The BD has become quite popular in the last few months. I love mine.

Sounds like a story there.

He also has a 5000 for sale that might be an interesting option.

Yes, and next month it will be something else :) I would bet $$$ he has spent more $$$ on his truck and has bought/sold more stuff then anyone here on the forum.

Let's just say he didn't put down very impressive numbers with the A2000 last fall. Everyone expected much more from it. This is primarily what led him on the quest for twins. :)

So what's the comparision rating between the 2000, BD and the new Garrett.

I plan on doing one of these three this summer and still can't decide which one.

Has any one got any HP improvment numbers on any ?

I think the numbers will be forthcoming on the BD as everyone is just now getting back into the dynoing/dragging rut. Based on what I know about the A2000 from prior owners and a tech that removed one and has a BD on his own truck, I wouldn't even consider it. Not even for towing.

I think you will see plenty of numbers on the BD soon. As for the Garrett...well, it may be awhile.

This summer is going to be fun ...lots of trucks with different turbo configuations will be dragging I know :)

Ditto - what he said, except I have one and pull the heck out of my 5th wheel toy hauler. Go for it......I would go with the BD turbo. You can PM SubMan631. He "had" the Aurora 2000 on this truck for a while. The BD has become quite popular in the last few months. I love mine.

Well it sounds like its an ok turbo. not great but not terrible Ill do some thinking. Where are you guys getting your twins? Ideally, what kind of mods do I need to support them?

I think they're getting their twins from Idaho...roughly $4500 for the "kit" I believe and you need a built tranny.
Yep, I'm jealous.
