One neat feature of the 2004 LLY Diesel engine, is has a built in cold fast idle and exhaust restrictor.

If the ambient temperatures are below 0º C and the coolant in below 65º C, this feature will raise the idle from 680 to 1200 RPM. Coupled with the turbocharger acting as an exhaust restrictor, the engine coolant temperature will be raised quicker.

Now there are two ways to enable this feature.
· If equipped with a DIC, use the steering wheel controls to select this feature
· If No DIC, Turn the ignition “on”, with the engine off.
· Press and hold the accelerator to the floor, than quickly press the brake pedal 3 times in less than 8 seconds
· Release the accelerator and start the engine

The engine speed will slowly increase to high idle after a delay from between a few seconds to two minutes.

For this feature to work there must be no throttle or brake pedal faults.

Now the engine speed will return to normal once the following conditions are met:

· Once the coolant goes above 65º C
· Air intake temperature reaches 0º C

Now the fast idle will be temporally interrupted and will return to normal if one of these conditions is met:

· Brake is applied
· Accelerator is pressed
· Transmission shifted out of park or neutral
· Clutch depressed
· Vehicle speed is detected

Once these inputs are removed, the fast idle will return, if the coolant and intake temperature conditions are not met.

This really work ?

Ditto for me.I think someone incorrectly wrote that 0 degree thing in there.Only makes sense to have fast idle enabled around the freezing point.

0 degrees C ... equates to 32 degrees F. Not a mistake.

Sorry, not trying to be a know-it-all, just stating the facts is all. I know that most of you live down south where the Celsius thing is not used, so just wanted to make sure that people understood that it works as advertised.
