Friend of mine just called me and said he was watching a show and they were talking about the new DMAX with i think it was 750hp and 1150 ft-lb of torque ( :eek2: ) and twin turbos, stock. He said it was only available as a crate motor right now and the official release date in the pickups was unknown. Anybody else heard anything?

I also saw the show and they said that the engine would be a turn key crate out in a month or so so I would say around June or July but then again they could have BSing us but hey that would be an awesome crate engine

Consider this:
The LBZ is 360hp
The LLY is 310hp
The "van" sersion of the LLY is 250hp

The LBZ is put in front of the Allison 6sp auto, and that trans will grenade with not much more than 450hp.

The LLY is put into the trucks with the ZF-6... something in the flywheel assembly can't handle the power of the LBZ

The 250hp LLY is put in the vans, which get the descendant of the old reliable TH400.

If this is a crate motor, exactly what tranny do they expect us to put behind it?
1000ft/lbs, maybe. 1000hp? There ain't a trany made that'll fit our trucks and handle that kind of power.

A suncoast stage 5 or ats extreme will deffinatly hold 1000 ft/lbs and there are ones holding 950hp+ there are trannies that will hold it.

1000ft/lbs ya.... but that's not much over 480hp. I think McRat was running around those numbers.

A solid 1000hp is going to be topping 2000ft/lbs.

Ok all i know is that the ATS extreme is said to be able to handel 1000hp but thats what they say on their site and im not certain but pretty sure thats not tested unless they have somehow.

Thats funny. Well if its on their website it has got to be true. The Alli won't hold 1000 hp in the real world, maybe it will on a dyno someday. It will not do so while taken care of business at the track or when pulling a sled for that matter. The only way I can see that being possible is if it where to slip a nice chunk of that power and the times/tranny temp would show it. Point being hard parts will need to be addressed first.

I see in your sig that you are doing a tranny and EFI on back to back months. New monster on deck!

I saw it too. It had a pretty wild intake. Not sure if it would fit under the hood, but they said banks was going to sell them as crate motors.
