Since I just got a new 04 D/A, I am wanting to change the oil around 1000 miles. I will be going to Delvac 1 or the new Mobile Truck/SUV synthetic after 10000 miles.


What seems to be the best oil to use in between time.

Alot of guys used Rotella ,I used Penn 15w 40 ....

I used Delvac 1300. Changed first at 1500, next at 5000, next at 10000. I changed to Delvac 1 at that last change, and am ready to drain at 16000 in the next week here.


You have a good plan to wait on the synthetic until after 10000. Need to make sure everything is broken in nice, then stop the wear with the synthetic...

They got Rotella and Cheveron Delo 400 at wally world, which should I use just for break in? And is the AC Delco 2232 filter OK? The OEM one is a black one, and the dealer only said to make sure and use the right filter because they have had failures from none OEM one collapsing!

The "New" Mobil One Truck and Suv oil is, in fact, Delvac 1, rebranded.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif I have seen UOAs comparing Delvac 1 to Delvac 1300 over on another board. Didn't seem like the Delvac 1 was worth the extra money according to the wear numbers. I am going to stick with the cheaper 1300 and shorter OCI's for now.

Last week, I did my first oil change at about 750 miles . Used Rotella from Walmart and a AC Delco filter from the Oakland Truck Center. While I was at it, I changed the Allison spin on and the rear diff's grape juice.


I'm off for a 1000 +/- mile trip in the morning. When I get back, I'll be installing my Racor kit, then I'll do what I did before plus the front diff. I should have 2000+ miles on it by then.

I just picked up some Mobil Delvac 1300 and a WIX filter, Plan on doing it tonight or this weekend.

Changed my oil at 703 miles on 3/07/04, and again at 4008 miles on 3/28/04. the oil on the first change didn't look bad. I cut open the first oil filter to see what the insides looked like. I didn't think it looked bad either. I want to post pictures, but I need to borrow a camera and figure out the process of posting them. I will also be cutting open my second filter. The oil from my second oil change had a lot!!!! of metal appearnce to it in the bottom of the bucket ( it was clean & brand new). I will be going to the extreme of changing at 6000 mile, oil and filter and I wil also be cutting open this filter to get an idea of how much metal is being picked up.


Using Delvac Super 1300 15/40 CI Rated, and Baldwin 1441 Oil Filter.
