Im wondering because my volume buttons have paint wearing off in a tiny area. Im not worried about it now, but if it gets worse and I cant touch it up with a sharpie, I might want to replace them. Its an aftermarket Denali wood steering wheel, so warentee is out. Id like to not have to buy a whole steering wheel...its pretty expensive. Can you buy JUST the buttons themselves?

Yes you should be able to. I would still get it under warranty.

Do you not have the buttons off your old steering wheel, or are they different??

no, I got the Denali steering wheel from a friend...he was seling his customized 2500 Avalanche and I asked if we could trade wheels. His Denali wood steering wheel for my stocker...so that Avy has my stock wheel. :)

Does this mean the dealer will cover the warranty on our Nav units?
A small spot on the "NAV" button is wearing through. At night, the light shining through is really noticable.
Sorry for going "off topic" a tad. ;)

If warranty won't cover it, check out your local scrapyards.

Don't know if it helps but when I was looking for my steering wheel off E-bay there happen to be someone selling just the buttons. Might want to try that, but then again you might have the same problem.;)

But then I have been wondering this lately, since my volume button lightbulb or whatever is back there burned out. :bawl: Man, this thing's falling apart, a lightbulb here, piece of plastic there, I shoulda bought a Furd. -:t Oh HAHAhaha, hohohoho, I crack myself up.
How would you get the darn button off? Do you need to take off the whole wheel and split it or what?

taking the steering wheel off is easy. 5 minutes.
I have no idea how the buttons come out tho :(

It is? Do you need a steering wheel puller?

buttons should be available from GM, The service manual outlines the replacement procedure for the button, indicating they are available individually.
