If you go to the EFI live website there should be a comparison on there off the different versions that will let you know what is different about them.

Personal Version you get 2 licenses for $699.00

Commercial does everything a Personal Version does and will also allow you to full flash the ECM to a different year O.S. or for the DMAX the DSP2 Switchable O.S. as well as Lock the ECMs.

It costs $849.00 and is worth every penny.

Yes, the 2001 ECM can be flashed to a 2002 O.S in a 2001 ECM as I have done that, the 2002-2004 LB7 ECM's have the same Hardware # and can be flashed across the 3 years as well.

The LLY ECM's cannot be backward flashed with LB7 O.S.'s and vice versa.

You can also tune any LS1 supported gasser as well.

What is the value in re-flashing an '01 ECM to the 2002 version OS?

I recently loaded Mackin's 2001 truck with a 2002 O.S. and he has posted that it has improved idle and seems more responsive..........he did get a custom DSP2 O.S. from me with a some of my custom tunes in it.

If you do decide to purchase a commercial version of EFI-Live and want the switchable DSP2 O.S. for a 2001 you will need to upgrade to the 2002 O.S. anyway.

The nice thing about it is it has been tested and works fine so finding a 2002 ECM is not necessary anymore.

Hope that answeres your question.

one other thing can the dealer tell if you have redone the PCM by scanning it

You can purchase the Personal first, and get used to using the software. Then, the Commercial upgrade can be done at a later date via E-mail. The cost is the same either way.

I would return it to stock before going to see your dealer.

The Limiter can be removed but truck must be mechanically capable of exceeding 90 mph without limping the tranny....................;)

so with the commercial version, you can tune the 6.0 gas motor in a truck? is that motor LS1 based?

Personal or Commercial will allow you to tune LS-1, LB7, or LLY.
The 6.0 is an LS-1 platform.

Commercial will allow complete rewrites of operating systems.
Commercial will also allow switchable tunes and Allison tuning in the next release.

Hope this helps. :D

Well sorta. So what you are saying is:
1. That the 2002 ECM O.S. is more stable or at least is a more desirable O.S. for modification than the '01 and that is the major reason for doing this swap?
AND
2. It is harder to modify the '01 because there are still issues with EFI software and how it effects the '01 ECM?

The feedback we have got from various tuners who have now done quite a few trucks is that the 2001 programs just don't run as nice as the later 2002+. 2001 has the same amount of calibrations in the software to change, but there is obviously 'hidden' issues with them. Afterall, if it worked perfect GM would never have updated the programs.

Ross

I dig. I figured it was something like that. Now all I gotta do is sell the Predator and get started in this new direction. Thanks, I appreciate the responses.

A listed additional feature of commercial is Electronic Throttle Control (ETC)
calibrations, what does this mean or is it just for gaser's

Just for LS1 with Electronic Throttle.
