My neighbor has an '01 D/A at about 92,000 miles. He's been getting a backfire, loss of power and black smoke at highway speed. Put it in neutral, gas it, put it back in drive, and it's fine again. He had an error code indicating #5 cyl misfire. Dealer replaced one bank of injectors last week. Still doin' it.
Anyone else with this problem?

Tell him to take it back and have them do it right this time. They are now to replace all 8 injectors, not just one, not just four, but ALL 8. There is a TSB out on this. Look in the TSB area for it.

yes i am a gm tech and all 8 are in the picture and dont rule out the fuel pump.
