First change of the spin-on filter coming up & just wondered -- where, specifically, is the magnet?

Take the filter off. Look at the top of it where it screws into the tranny. The Mag is around the hole that screws in. It looks like a big washer.

When you remove the spin on filter, it will either be stuck to the filter or still on the threads of the base. So, if it isn't on the filter look up.

When I changed my filter, I removed the magnet off the old filter, cleaned it and put it back on the threaded receiver. As I was screwing the new filter on, I heard the magnet 'click' onto the filter just as I got it tight.

On a side note, I think its really great of GM/Allison/Isuzu to put magnets on all these drain plugs and filters! I always liked the idea and wished Manufacturers would make it standard. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
