I have a new GMC 2500 HD DMAX CC 4X4 SLT. I'm having issues with the driver's seat and outside mirrors returning to their preset position after key-in and shifting from reverse to drive. The seat and mirrors do not always return to the preset position or may return to a new preset position. Of course they will not do this at the dealership. I also had this problem on my Escalade EXT. Am I doing something wrong?

Needs new power seat module and door module, I've had three in 31.000 miles. Best thing was the seat heater would turn on and cycle whenever it wanted. There are TSB out on the seat modules, have your dealer search for them.

Thanks for the info on the TSB. My seats always seem to go to the wrong preset, and won't hold the one I program in for very long. Thought I was loosing it, since the changes were small, and kept thinking it was me.

since dalwolf has an 04, I would assume this applies to the 04s as well? I guess I have this to look forward to in my new truck?

I've had the same problem with both the seats returning and the heater, thought I was losing it too! Thanks for the tip, will have it checked out when I take it in next time. Does one TSB cover both or are there two TSBs?

I have the same problem with the memory seats on my 2003 2500HD D/A. If anyone can provide the TSB number, I'd be grateful, since my local dealer is highly (under)motivated.
I haven't had any problems with the seat heater except that I accidentally bump it on frequently. But when I am very careful, I don't, which means to me the fault is in the ergonomic design, not some electronic control module.

I have repaired one 2003 Tahoe with the same complaint (but also with phantom seat heater operation) by replacing the seat module. At the time I do not think there was a bulletin.
Look at bulletin #03-08-50-003. It's for 2003's.
Also have them read PI01862. It's not for public use (VIN specific) but deals with some operational misunderstandings with heated/memory seats.
Also, there is another PI that deals with unwanted seat heater operation. It replaces '03 and early '04 seat heater switches with the newer design, low profile, later '04 version. PI01850 is what they need for that.
Also have them check bulletin #04-08-50-003. This one deals with fully functional seat modules replaced unecissarily when the fault was actually a factory DIC default for seat memory "off"....all that is needed is for the system to be activated.
Process:
Using the DIC menu, do the following steps:
<LI =1>Set the "Seat Recall" to either "At Key In" or "On Remote" based on the customer's preference.
<LI =1>Set the "Exit Seat" to "On".
<LI =1>Adjust the following items:
Memory Seat:
<LI =A>Driver's Seat (including the seat back, recliner, lumbar, and side wings)
<LI =A>Throttle and Brake Pedals (not available on H2 or Silverado and Sierra Trucks)
<LI =A>Outside Mirrors
<LI =A>Radio Station Presets
<LI =A>Last Chosen Climate Control System Settings (not available on Silverado or Sierra Trucks)
<LI =A>Press and hold the "1" or "2" (for driver 1 or 2) button of the memory control for three seconds. A double chime will sound to let you know that the position has been stored.

Easy Exit Seat:
<LI =A>Press and release the 1 or 2 button or press the unlock button on the desired remote keyless entry transmitter. The seat will move to the stored memory position.
<LI =A>Adjust the seat to the desired exit position.
<LI =A>Press and hold the exit button of the memory control (located on the door) for three seconds. A double chime will sound to let you know that the position has been stored for the identified driver (1 or 2).
