I'm getting ready to do my Lux nav upgrade (just waiting on some parts) and I ordered a Terk XM unit. Since my truck is a factory NON-XM bose stereo I was wondering if the Terk unit mounts up in the factory location behind the glove box or if I need to mount it somewhere else. Where are you guys mounting yours?

Thanks.

I didn't have a Terk system but I did have a pioneer. There was enough room under the cub holders in the center console if you have buckets. It fit really nice under there.

If your doing the Nav upgrade, why not use the factory XM kit and take advantage of the OEM integration?

Cost was my main reason. I got the Terk kit for 140 shipped to my door and the OEM kit is more than twice that much money.

Half the cost = Half the options.

I guess if the Terk kit satisfies you, go with it.

Have you tried a junk yard? I got all the factory components for one third of what you are paying for the Terk Kit. The XM box needs the VIN cleared much like the nav unit.

My costs were as follows... All XM components from junk yard, $40. VIN cleared $10. + my installation time.

How do you figure it has half of the options?? I looked at both kits and I can't find anything the factory components can do that the Terk unit can't do...I'm not trying to be a smart ass. I really couldn't. If you could tell me what the difference in options is I would like to hear them. I'm not commited to the Terk system yet. Just thought it would be a good alternative to the expensive factory kit. Plus I don't have to drive 50 miles to the dealer to get the vin cleared.

Thanks.

The Terk system works just as good as any stock system. There are no features you will miss vs. stock factory unit. I have had trucks with both setups, and you could not tell the difference in the two.
