I have a 2000 h1 with the good ole 6.5. I have around 33,000 miles on the odo. Just by chance is there anything I should be on the lookout for? I have a Duramax that I know top to bottom but this was a hand me down from a family member that can no longer drive (not bad eh?). When I mean looking out for just trouble spots and about what mileage they are known to occur. Thanks in advance!!!

all the usual suspects. PMD/FSD issues are worth reading about. Does the stock exhaust on the hummer look like GM's. If yes, Then think of it as built in obsolesence. The back pressure is killing your engine as you race UPS trucks. Without this restriction, you might get 600,000 miles out of your engine, and it's hard to sell new trucks with that kind of performance. Ditch the muffler too, the 6.5 sounds beautiful.

I'm rather fond of the boost controller. This little switch is worth installing if you like bottom end torque.

I've meet 6.5 owners at the pump with 300,000 miles that havn't changed a thing on their trucks. Just goes to show you, if you take care of it, it will last.Edited by: quantum mechanic

thanks for the info....I'm looking into a 4 inch exhaust for the hummer but it's so much more expensive than the duramax. But the truck is only making 195 hp what a dog.....I know these diesels aren't as bad as people makem out to be!

You can take that 195 to 295 with a little restriction removal(intake and exhaust)and the potswitch. I'm sure the 4" pipe is boss but I went with the 3" downpipe and a straight exhaust pipe. It whines, it roars and it glides along effortlessly.
