Well I had dozens ask me so here they are. Been 2 days now and no side effects. I have a magnet key so Im not worried about getting locked out. I just cut the wire instead of fishing it out. Then I taped both ends. I left a little wire so I could re-establish if needed.

Cutting the green wire does not work on the 2002 trucks

I have a 2002 and I opted to remove the piezoelectric "speaker" by desoldering it from the circuit board. No adverse effects and it's great to have the peace and quiet.

At some point, I may add a small circuit to give me the options of full function, reduced number of dings, or complete silence.

Hey all,

I cut my green wire as Problem Child shows....... still all dings
and nothing changed. I put the wire together again.

I went one step further and pulled out the black box all three
wire harnesses are plugged into. Open up the black box
(it as 4 push in tabs) and stick a ice pick into the center of
the round dinger speaker. Rotate the ice pick while the dinger
is sounding off and you'll hear as it slowly dies to silence. It will
stop it from dinging in all modes!!!! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/uploads/kill_the_dinger.jpgEdited by: 56Nomad
