Ok bought this truck 2 months ago, it doesnt have the xm ready stock head unit. I am sick and tired of the local crap stations and want my xm back. Anybody want to get rid of a stock unit that is capable for the xm?

I think for that to work, the deck needs the capablility to select the channels using the direct box. This means if the deck isnt setup for a aux section then I dont think it will work. ??? not sure but thats my theory

I just got my stereo done & was about to toss the factory one out. If you can get me a postage paid box, you can have mine.

You guys have Bose or non-Bose? It does make a difference...

Yes, you have to have a unit capable of tuning the XM if you go with the stock stuff.

I have the bose system.
Why does this make a difference?

I just removed the stock CD changer and non-lux Bose amp from my truck and added the lux amp and touch screen nav (so I have an XM ready stereo and amp available). I kept the XM so that is not available, but should be able to be added without issue.

Has anyone done an eBay search to know what they are worth? (I have not yet gotten around to it.)

I just installed a factory XM in my wifes new diesel. If you have a stock Radio that has a band knob. You can install the XM. It come with wiring harness, stock antenna, bracket for module and instructions. It took a figuring out to put it in.
Its easier if you have another truck to look at. Which I did. Go to
gmdieseltech.com to purchase it

Hey chevypas,
If you are going to buy that aftermarket kit, go here,
http://www.myradiostore.us/xm-radio-receivers/xm-direct-gm-general-motors-xmdgm100.html
I don't know what shipping is, but it should save you a few dollars.

I too am looking at this setup.
