Run your VIN# through this site and you can see if any software updates have been released.

It looks like you need to have the Tech II hooked up in order to determine which version of the software is installed, is that a correct assumption?
I know, assumptions are dangerous, but there are a number of things posted under my serial number and the web site goes to "Getting Calibration Information..." and never returns anything.

Yes, you need a Tech 2 to see what calibrations you have. You need to allow popups to get it to work. When you put in your vin chose either PCM or TCM from the list then chose normal. You should see something like this.
