sorry for yet another question but you guys are much more helpful than any other site. i recently remotely mounted my pmd and that stopped all of my stalling. now i would like to stop the smoking habit my truck has, the patch aint working ):h . my truck is a 1997 gmc 3500 with 6.5 td , its a repo wrecker and i tow alot of cars with it , it doesnt seem to have the power it should as well as when im accelerating with a car in tow up a hill or luggin the engine it smokes , not a little , but sometimes more than others , looks to be more smoke than it should be normal. looked around in faq with not much help , could it be turbo; wastegate; or what , thanks in advance for any input

Check vacuum , Replace wastegate solenoid, check airfilter, replace injectors.

One or more of the above might fix it. Color of smoke might be helpful. Codes? Got any more hints for us to go by?

some of those codes are probably old stored from bad PMD days, have someone with tech 2 tool, or other bi-directional tool clear them Snap-On MT2500 will also work. Black smoke on accel is usually turbo problem, as per DP above check for vac to WG actuator, if no vac at WG actuator work way back to see where you are losing it, WG solenoid pulses to keep WG closed when power is needed, vac there will be 15-20", supply to WG sol should be 17-20" same as vac directly at vac pump, if not check nylon lines they can crack and have hard to see vac leaks. If you have low or no Vac at vac pump then you may want to opt for a turbo master mechanical WG control.

check that and let us know how you make out

BTW update your signature line at earliest opportunity, follow the welcome link in my sig for info how to do it
