I have been doing some research on lift pumps, since i am planning on running a stacked program and was wondering how hard it is to install a dual lift pump on my truck. Thanks in advance.

No harder than installing one pump actually once you decide on location and which pumps. There are some very quiet efficient reliable pumps sold by our vendors.

Just a recommendation but shop around.

Take a look at our web site and you find plenty of pictures of the install on a truck under the GM Diesel fuel systems section. Time to install our kit is about 2 - 3 hours. The hardest part is to remove the stock fuel line. Our kits comes complete with everything you need less tools. So no trips to the auto parts store for parts you forgot to get with the piece at a time pumps.

with the tts system is that the only thing you have to remove is the stock fuel line? what about the other systems on the market r they the same way. from my understanding from the tts site is that u just remove the stock pump and replace it with the dual lift pump.

All you do is remove the stock fuel line to install the TTS kits. We give you everything in the kit to put back in place. If for any reason down the road you can go back to stock by simply removing the kit and reinstalling the stock line.

Steve's setup is very straight forward to install and a nice clean kit. The one advice I would give to Steve and a tip to you is that one set if wires isn't as long as the others and that set is about 1.5-2" short. If you get the TTS kit, you may have to add a 4-5" piece of wire to making connecting them easier. It is raining out or I would take pics of mine.

What wires did you find short? We tested on a CCLB, ECLB,CCSB, ECSB and my regular cab truck. We route the wires the same on all of them with no trouble. The CCLB is the longest one we know of but we make all the kits with the long wires in them so the customer can trim them. Maybe you routed different than we do. If they need a few more inches it's no big deal for me to change the cut length if I know which wires were short for you.

The red and black, IIRC (the set that didn't involve blue). Maybe we wired it differently, bobo and JakeGMCHD helped me and those wires were a bit short on theirs too. Not a big deal, just spliced in a 5" section and connected.

Are you talking about the two wires on the pumps themselves? The wires that run to the pumps are Red, Blue and Violet. We route the wires from the fuse box rearward down the firewall and into the stock loom next to the steering shaft. When we checked them there was about 6" more than needed on a CCLB. Do you know how you routed yours? We may need to be alittle more clear in the instructions if this is a problem. I want the kit to not have any problems for anyone.

As I said, it really wasn't a big deal. I ran them from the fuse box, down the firewall and down the frame-rail to the pumps. I didn't run them in the stock loom, I put new split loom around them.

Diesel Tech, I just installed the TTS dual system on my cc/sb and can confirm that the red wire from the firewall fuse which goes down the frame to power the two red wired from the lift pumps is short. I had to add approximately 18" of wire to it so it could reach the pumps wires. The blue and purple (I believe that's the colors) were good in length with no mods needed. Other than the one short wire, my suggestion would be to add "arrows" to your nice install photos inside the fuse box to highlight where exactly to find things, in particular, the light green wire and the tan/white one. Maybe something to relay to TTS. I ordered direct from them and spoke with Vicky.
On another, related note, the billet pickup instructions are horrendous for an LLY...there weren't any. I figured it all out and am up an running...just my 2 cents from todays install. :)

You will also wan't to do the fuel pick up thats in the tank that is also a big restriction Kennedy diesel sells them.

I will pass the comments on to the instruction people and see about getting the arrows added as it sounds good to me. How did you route the red wire and where did you mount the fuse holder? I will take a kit and install it on my new truck CCLB so we can see what need to be changed but just want to make sure we are not doing something different. Sorry about the LLY instructions missing, will talk to someone on Tuesday about pulling the kits off the shelf and checking them to make sure there isn't any more missing them.

As far as the pickup goes I designed it and they do help alot when running high HP but for the average guy (less than 400 RwHp) it's not needed. Guess I should not say that as we would sell less but that's the way it is.

Besides TTS, who are some other vendors that sell TTS lift pumps? I believe Huckstorf sells them along with LB7 and LLY fuel pickup kits. Does anyone else?

I routed the red wire from the fuse holder (mounted as per picture in instructions on the firewall behind the fuse box) straight down the inner fender well on the driver's side. Once to the frame, I ran it down the frame and clipped it on top of the factory harness bundle in it's own protective sleeve. The purple and green wires matched up with at least 6 inches to spare when connected to the black pump wires. The red one was at least a foot short to connect to the pumps 2 red wires.

On a related note. I chose to plumb my pumps AFTER my secondary fuel filter for two reasons, theoretical as they are. First was to have the fuel filtered prior to the pumps. Second was to avoid a pressure caused leak with the secondary filter do to increased pressure. Don't know if that's good or not. I realize that when I change my filter though, I'll have to reprime the pumps...no problem. Comments? Or should I replumb it to come before the filter? Any benefits/concerns? Thanks! :)

The only problem would be that the pumps do no suck fuel well, this is also why they will not self prime. This is the reason we mounted them as close as possible to the tank and as low as safely possible. You need to keep them away from anything that may damage the pumps or lines for safety. I would not worry about stuff getting into the pumps as they are pretty robust. I would reroute the lines so the pumps are the first thing from the tank. Thanks for your comment so we can look into the red wire issue you had.
