Has anyone done this? What does it entail? Pain? I've already been through 3 clutches and a Trans. Trans itself was $6,000. Out of warranty, 2004 with 125,000mi.

Why did the 6-speed break?

Do you want to sell the truck?

I sure wouldn't swap a 6spd for an Ally. :badidea: I don't kow why the trans went bad but we need more info to acess the situation :exactly: .

Input shaft went bad because of the flywheel going out. The vibration I'm guessing trashed it..

Probably so . . . but why so much vibration compared to a normal truck with ZF6? I have never heard of a ZF losing it's input shaft.

would be interesting to learn what caused it to fail, if possible.

They can and do fail. I can think of three trucks around here that hve had them replaced that i know about. It sounds like the DMF is going bu its actually the input shaft when you get it apart. They are all in trucks that are really worked hard. But replaceing the input shaft isnt a big deal, and they have been updated since they first came out in the GM's.
