Would anybody with access to GM's warranty work database be so kind as to look up this VIN for me to see what if any warranty work has been done on a pickup I'm looking at? Thanks in advance.

Go to any GM dealer and they can run the VIN for you.

Hmmm, looking at this a little more, its interesting the # of miles per month during the beginning (>3k) versus the period towards the end. (700-1900). This was a lease rig, is it possible to disable the odometer without shutting down other computer systems? If so, would the real mileage be stored in the computer somewhere? Of course, maybe as they approached their max lease mileage, they quit driving it.

I just looks to me like they used it somewhat sporadically, after all it only went 7,500 miles in the first 11 months.
If you push and hold the trip[ odometer button with the key off, for about 5 seconds, the odometer will display engine hours. You can use this to determine average speed. If the speed is over about 35 mph you're looking at highway use, and virtually no chance of a doctored odometer reading (if they stop the miles and the clock continues the mph goes down).
For example my truck is at 29,653 miles and 722.5 hours for 41.0 mph which jives with my intermitant mostly highway commuting and occasional vaction use. I've been driving it less recently because I've got a big road trip planned for May and I want the whole trip to fall within the 3 yr/36,000 mile portion of the warranty.

Yeah, I thought of that. I'll try it and see. The "in-service" date in the owners manual is actually March 02 rather than June of 01. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif So, I'm not sure how that all jives either. Does the pre-delivery inspection happen when the truck arrives at the dealer, or when its actually sold. Back in late 2001, I can't imagine one of these sitting on a lot for 9 mos or more. I'm a suspicious person when it comes to used vehicles, so I'm probably reading more into it than I should be. Wish I could afford the monthlies for a brand new one.
