I've been on a few RV sites and reading and contributing to various Dodge vs Ford vs GM threads about which one to buy. Some people seem to think that the Duramax won't hold up with the aluminum heads so I thought I'd find out whats really happening out there. If you have high mileage on your Duramax please post the mileage and what if any issues you had along the way. Thanks

80,400 miles - 29 months - average 18 mpg - one set of tires, serpentine belt tensioner, a few bulbs.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif The "aluminum head failure" issue isn't dead yet after 5 years and 500,000 successful DuraMax engines? SOME PEOPLE gotta get a hobby - and a real truck!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

You find at least 3 DMax with over 400K miles. One has 610K!!! No head failures noted. There is another thread here somplace with a link to a Dodge report from several years ago talking about the advantages of aluminum heads and blocks. The Dmax wasn't just thrown together one weekend. It's the end result of many many years of diesel design and production.
