I am in business for myself and work very hard, but I got a few friends and not friends who have nothing better to do then to sit around and speculate why I had to buy a 04 cc d/a for 45k. It really ticks me off. These are the same guys who have a 30 ft camper being pulled by a bravada, and one guy with a 20ft bass boat being pulled by a dodge dakota, and one guy with a 28 ft camper being pulled by a dodge dakota etc etc etc these are the same people who trade there junk every other year and say iam nuts for spending that kind of money for a truck. I paid 28k for my last truck and kept it 7.5 years and sold it for 9k. I also write off my truck. Some people just dont get it. They take a pounding every time they trade up, while i just SMILE AT MY TAX ADVISOR EVERY SPRING and cant wait to buy a new one, This is one awesome truck and i love it. I say buy the horse before the cart </TD></TR>

DSTRBD 03-27-2004, 01:59 AM AMEN! Some people just don't understand and never will. I still don't understand why people buy them chicken $#*! little trucks like Dakotas. You can't even safely haul a bag of chips in the bed! Oh well, to each his own I guess. You know that you made the right decision, thats all that really matters.
mpl897 03-27-2004, 04:44 AM I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH A 35 YEAR FRIEND, WE FIGHT AND NOW I RARELY SEE HIMhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Evil Smile.gif
HE ALWAYS PREACHES AND HIS LIFE AIN'T PERFECT.
Corsair 03-27-2004, 08:23 AM It's always better to have a little more truck than you need rather than not enough truck, especially when pulling a trailer. We bought our first Dmax Dec. 31 2003 for tax purposes, better to buy a truck than to pay the government.

Road Boss 03-27-2004, 01:26 PM I have that same problem with people too. They are just mad because they don't have one. People alway say that I can afford the truck because I don't have any kids. That is such BS! My old lady and I work our butts off to get what we want.
maynard9089 03-27-2004, 08:36 PM I work with guys who drive Denali's, Yukon's, Escalade's and various other high priced GM cars and trucks and they act shocked that I would spend so much money for a truck to pull my camper!
Leatherman 03-27-2004, 10:56 PM My Partner and I have busted our a$$ for 4 years. We started with a 12 ft trailer and 87 Chev Cparice. We traded up to a 88 Subarban and then we traded up for a 18ft 10,000lb trailer. Now the trailer is loaded to the max and the Subarban just can't do it anymore, 3 years of towing that trailer around. So we made the plunge and bought a new truck this time and we bought the best, this truck has everything and what I didn't get it will have it soon http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Evil Smile.gif. Now we will looking for a 36ft 5th wheel trailer soon. My Friends were telling me to spend the money and go for it, the ones that are jealous I don't see anymore and thats not by my choice. They choose not to call or come around. Just because we are moving up the ladder doesn't mean that we have changed. We work very hard at what we do and the kids work just as hard. They see that working hard pays off. If any of you people ride and go to bike shows and swap meets Look for us Big White Tent and a new Dooley, Our Sign Quality Leather and the web site is SJFDistributor.com thats us http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif Bottom Line work HARD play HARD Live GOOD Edited by: Leatherman
ve7edl 03-28-2004, 12:14 PM This is my first deisel truck, I had a 2000 Z71 before this. I have a few friends that say I am nutshttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wacko.gifas well. I respect their opinion, they just have a different way of looking at life. These people tend to save every penny and that is admirable if you can do it. I have always thought that "I would rather Live Rich than Die Rich."http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Up.gif

WOW, I'm sure glad my second vehicle is a Chevy S-10 and not a Dakota, My S truck will haul 3 or 4 bags of chips and a couple containers of chip dip.

_nar_ 03-29-2004, 12:21 AM On the other hand it also goes the other way. I have several friends that never pull anything that bought duramax trucks because they wanted to have the baddest truck around. They are always giving me crap because I don't have one. "Why don't you get a diesel since you pull a trailer every week?" "Just man up and buy it" This gets pretty irritating when I really do want one for work but I'm just not sure it would be wise to trade right now. With the drought situation here I just don't know that I can buy a new truck. I damn sure want to, and my 1/2 ton wants me to I think, it seems to think that #16000 of hay and trailer is heavy. And eventually that kind of thing will kill that little 4l60e I am sure. Perhaps I'll just do something stupid and go buy one and just really hope we get some rain this summer.... Then I could be like all my rich friends. Well not really, because my truck will be pulling all the time..
ROBZUK 03-29-2004, 07:31 PM I had a friend like that as well. He was so jealous when we lifted our Samurai that he went out and dumped $2k on his XJ just so he could stay ahead of our lift. We parted ways not long after he lifted his truck,I just don't get people. When we told another friend we were buying a new truck all we got was "must be nice". My old truck is 10 years old and showing her age. The old girl just can't take the towing anymore, not that I give a rats patooty what anyone thinks. I bought a truck that will do what we want it to do without straining going through the mountains or hauling 2-3 Samurais.

LARSONEM 03-30-2004, 12:51 PM Amazing isn't it how people act. Petty jelousy. I've got a friend like that too (I think everyone does). This guy is into "one up-man-ship" big time. You go buy something, and he's got to match you. I bought a new Gold Wing and he went looking, but when the second guy bought a new one, he cracked and bought one too. I bought a new Tahoe so he bought a new Tahoe. I kept my second new Tahoe hidden from him for about 6 months and within a year he got one too.
biggar 04-10-2004, 12:12 PM Some of you guys got some looney friends.
I guess everyone I hang around with has more dough than me, instead of less.
Hey, maybe I'm a looneyhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif
