Check that the cars behind you at a stop light don't have red and blue lights before punching it to beat the Duramax (or anything else you want to beat) on green.


Needless to say, he wasn't impressed when his car was completely engulfed in black smoke (he was stopped right behind my tailpipe). Nor did he care that I won.


I was actually laughing when he walked up to give me the ticket.


Gonna go to court to fight it just to see the video!!

Ticket was for "Exhibition of Speed" which is worse than a speeding ticket but not as bad as reckless driving. It actually falls in the same category as "racing" which is mandatory appearance in court, but since the officer wrote it as Exhibition of Speed, I don't have to go to court if I don't want to.


I actually had to wait 20 minutes for him to come back to give me the ticket. He was originally behind the other guy (my brother) but as I pulled ahead of my brother, he merged on me so I pulled over (and my brother still had no idea he was back there) and he told me to wait there and took off after my brother... He caught him and about two minutes after he left, another officer pulled in and sat with me... We were only doing 40 mph in a 35 when I noticed his lights... I don't know exactly what part gives him the thought it was "Exhibition of Speed" - the squeeling tires, the smoke, or the 0-40 in about 2 seconds.


The amusing thing is that I have seen a cops episode where two cars pull up next to each other at the stop light and the cop is sitting right behind them... He says "they're not stupid enough" and they take off at the green light... I was laughing thinking "man, how could you not notice a cop behind you"... Trust me, you don't.

Somehow, I think back to my youth and I don't think any of the cops ever pulled the truck guys over for "Exhibition of Speed". They usually reserved that one for us muscle car guys. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif


The truck guys usually got the "tires way outside the body" or "your bumper would clear the back of a stadium" tickets. That was when the big monster mudder tires were popular.


I'm just glad most of the police in my town were friends of my brother who were all gearheads... They just handed out slips for the truly stupid.

Yeah, I should have used the NOS. The officer flat out said the only way he knew we were racing is because the entire interesection was filled with black smoke. He said the reason we got pulled over was because the intersection was made unsafe when we took off due to the black smoke...

I feel your pain. When I was younger a friend of mine had a built vette. We were in town one night and wanted to race. Car pulled beside us at stop light - we reved--he reved--light turned green we smoked him.
