Rumaxed, I almost did the same thing, but they don't tow much more than a 3500. Ended up with www.rvtruckbeds.com/ - 9k - Cached (http://rds.yahoo.com/S=2766679/K=davco+truck+bed+/v=2/SID=w/l=WS5/R=1/*-http://66.218.71.225/search/cache?p=davco+truck+bed+&ei=UTF-8&n=20&fl=0&u=www.rvtruckbeds.com/&w=davco+truck+bed&d=D45F1E81B3&c=482&yc=58176&icp =1) http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big%20Smile.gif-Dave Edited by: Bulldogger

That IS the manly pickup.

I thought the 4500/5500 had a pretty high GVW?

It looks like some nasty ford door handles on the Crew Cab. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif

The 4500 crew cab when equipped with a hauler bed allows for around a 1000 more pounds in 5th wheel weight. The 4500 and 5500 still run the 6.6l duramax. I figured for the difference in cost I step to freightliner with MBE-900. Allows for a 28,000 lb 5ver. The MBE has a B10 life of 375,000 and a B50 life of 500,000. Factory engine warranty is 5yr/150,000.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif Dave

The 6.6 Duramax in the 4500/5500 is *not* the same light duty 6.6 that is in the 2500/3500 (different engine block even).

That being said, 6.6 liters is too small for a truck that size -- at least if your shooting for 12's. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

MJ whats the difference between the two 6.6l. I know there is a difference in programming I thought the rest was done by uping the rear axle ratio, brakes and frame. How are the blocks different and what else is different? Thanks, Dave oh and by the way the MBE-900 is an inline six but only 6.4lEdited by: Bulldogger

The 2500/3500 6.6 is different from the 4500/5500 6.6? Are you sure about that? Isn't there quite a bit of parts compatability? I know the 6500 to 8500s use a bigger I6, but I thought there were only 2 engines being produced by DMAX Ltd. --SShttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

I don't any of the details, but I do know the water passages are different enough that some parts are not interchangeable...

i thought the larger vehicles used the "municipal" verison detuned for 210HP and such. not sure about the torque numbers but remember reading this somewhere.
