Ok so what is your oil pressure at idle? Mine seems a little low.

Also I see that the REDLINE is at 4800 but the dotted redline starts at about 3200, so my question is how far into the dotted line can you go? All the way up to 4800? Not that I want to but just curious.

My oil pressure is about 40 psi at idle with 5w-40 in it right now. It's a little more with the 15w-40.

As far as red-line I'm not sure, unless you get some hardware to adjust the governor, its going to cut you out at a safe speed and there's nothing that can be done. Mine is fixed at 200 Rpm above redline with a positive air shutoff valve.

At idle with 203 deg, fully warmed engine - about 25-28 lbs. Delvac 1300 Super 15W-40 with Baldwin B1441 filter.

The engine is governed at 3250 rpms under power and 4800 rpms in grade braking mode. That is why you see a dashed line verses solid.

My hot oil pressure runs right around 25-30, using Delo 400 15w-40.

Both mine run right at 40psi hot with Delvac 1.What DavesDmax said on rev limiter.I've had it run up pretty high with grade braking in mtns while towing, makes you cringe a little.

From what I have read, the 3200 redline is for acceleration, and the 4800 is for when the Allison kicks in to slow you down. And about the oil pressure. I have been told that the gages that come in these vehicles are not exact, kind of like the fuel gauge. Were 1/2 half of tank is not exacly 1/2 of the fuel tank capacity. Mostly the guages is there to show you that you have oil pressure. Oil pressure will vary from vehicle to vehicle!!!Edited by: BIGMoe

30lbs hot at idle,60 crusing. I dont know if this is the same for diesels as gas engines, but here goes. I am a street rodder and have built several gas semi performance engines, the rule we all use is 10psi for every 1000rpms. Current 400 sbc engine idles at 18psi, cruses at 38psi hot. This motor is breathed on pretty hard and never has an oiling problem. Everyone in this forum seems ok to me!
