Folks,

I have a 4l85E tranny on my 06 GMC Savanna Cargo Van. It also has a detuned 250 HP LLY engine.

The dealer says that my tranny can take 440 ft-lbs torque max.

Does anyone know where I can bring my tranny to be modified so that it can handle more HP and Torque. I would like to tune my 06 LLY to bring it at least one level up.

I have an trailer that is close to 12000 lbs, so I want to bring my LLY power up and make sure my tranny survives the upgrade.

I live in Atlanta and Knoxville, so if anyone knows of a good tranny shop that can modify my 4L85E, I'd appreciate it. If there are no good tranny shops around here, I would even be willing to travel a few hundred miles for this.

Thanks for the info.

Might be a little overkill for me. (and too expensive)

I just want my 4L85E beefed up a little just to handle a 12000 lbs trailer instead of the rated 10000 lbs towing capacity. Since I only tow occasionally, I'll be happy with something that can handle 350 hp and around 600 ft-lbs torque.

Thanks Mike,

Do you know if these modifications would affect the computer programming? Will it still shift at the same points? Do I need to program the ECM for these modifications? How will the "Tow/Haul" mode interact with these modifications? I've heard that the Allisons have programming to match the engine outputs and I was wondering if the 4L85E also have similar programming.

Do you know anybody in Atlanta that can do this? I want somebody who has a good reputation and history of doing this, so I just don't want to pick somebody off the yellow pages.

Thanks
Jojo

None of the mods I mentioned will change how the trans operates. The shifts will be more firm and converter will lock better and have proper stall and quicker coupling. I would make a phone call to Suncoast converter in Ft. Walton Beach FL. Talk to Joe.
