4x4man 03-26-2004, 09:14 AM Can be had at DIS for half that... Many places online have the filter cheaper, but you don't have the time to wait for shipping this time... You think that is bad, find out how much it is the the Allison spin on filter...that can be had at any large truck company for less than $9. That why we call them $tealers..
Have a safe trip.
Bob
Ray403Dmax 03-26-2004, 09:56 AM Definitely need to shop around even online as they can be stealers and the local dealer can be cheaper. I prefer GMpartsdirect.
Rookiew/Dmax 03-26-2004, 10:03 AM Go to Eric's site, http://www.gmdieseltech.com I think he is asking (approx) $20.00 for fuel filters
CAMike 03-26-2004, 12:00 PM OK Let's try it again...Look at the thread by Ray403dmax again. Fuel Filters for LLY DMAX which cost $56 each at Hallowell Chevrolet in Fresno CA are $14 each at GM Parts Direct. Shipping is a little bit but that cost isn't much when you order a few items. ACDelco Oil filters are $9 ea. I just rec'd three new LLY Raycor fuel Filters and 5 oil filters for $103. Including shipping.
Tsckey 03-26-2004, 01:57 PM OilGuard has them for $17ea. but it appears three is the minimum order.

Lonewolf867 03-26-2004, 02:45 PM I bought the three filters from Oil guard. they came in the mail and look great! Sealed in a plastic bag and all. I figure I am going to need them anyway so why pay more to buy one or two at a time?

Silveradogs 03-26-2004, 04:37 PM I know the dirty little secret of the Allison Filter.
$36.86 at the local stealer. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Throw Up.gifAnd I bet they didn't even transfer the magnet to the new one...
John R 03-26-2004, 05:07 PM OilGuard has them for $17ea. but it appears three is the minimum order.

smshiver 03-27-2004, 12:35 AM Allison spin on filter:
Dealer: $29.95 http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif
Pacific Detroit Allison: $7.15 http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
I'm lucky and have a Detroit Allison shop five miles from my house. Dealer will NEVER see my transmission!!! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif
ROBZUK 03-27-2004, 06:21 AM I just got 3 Baldwin oil filtres off Ebay for $27.95 including shipping. Why don't we get together a list of places state by state that have the best prices and maybe do an archive? Eric, how many AC/DELCOs are in a case?

I tried to order from this place, I got my order of 2 filters and a rear marker light and then went to checkout and noticed $38.00 Shipping charge!!!
LanduytG 03-27-2004, 11:34 AM We have them for $18 each and Allison for $12.75. You can order them here (http://www.lubespecialist.com/Order/order.mv)

Watch for oil filters on sale at Auto Zone. I got STP oil filters for $1.98 each. If you are concerned about the fact that they have the same number as Fram, don't worry, they are made by Champion Labs, the same company who makes the OEM filter that the Duramax comes from the factory with.
Got my fuel and Allison from Kennedy Diesel at quite a savings. Funny, the giant 2 quart 1 R 0749 Caterpillar filters are only $18 at the Cat dealer. I guess the GM filter is much better than the Cat, or else it would not cost as much, right?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wink.gif
sycloneGuy 03-27-2004, 07:33 PM Tranny filter $9.49 including tax at the local Allison Dealer. They threw in an Allison 1000/2000/2400 owners manual and a reminder about the magnet!! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif They gave me a price of $275 for a flush and fill with Transynd. I'll do that later.

OC_DMAX 03-27-2004, 08:01 PM The dealer price is a joke. You would think with the amount of injector problems GM is having, they would underwrite the price of these things and almost give them away.
I usually order my OEM replacement Racor Fuel Filters from Greg Landuyt at Lubespecialist. I think he currently wants $18.00 each. Good price and excellent service.

It says "unable to validate shipping costs"
So what will shipping be for 2-3 filters and a drain screw to zip 92626?
hdmax 03-28-2004, 11:35 AM The tranny spin ons can be had at the local Allison shop/dealers for about $8-9 each. I pay $8.17 each (But that is in lots of 6) and it you look around the primary fuel filters can be had for $15-17 each. (again, you will need to but 5 or more)
To give you an idea how the dealers can and will rip you off.
2 years ago I needed the driver side drive axle for my 97 chevy 1/2 ton. The dealer wanted over $870 (They sold it in parts, to make it look better, and much harder to swap out) and it had a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty.
I went to Advanced Auto, the same thing was $69 + a $100 core charge that I got back. And it had a life time warranty. Ant this one was in one piece, so changing it was a 30 minute job.
cmtndmax 03-28-2004, 05:42 PM Napa 3810 fuel filter $19.67
Napa 7202 oil filter $6.35
