After reading and corresponding with George Morrison I resolved that someday I will buy BP Diesel Supreme, that day has come!

Metro Detroiters (and all others that come this way) B&P/Amoco at the corner of Inkster & Schoolcraft (Brand new station) has Diesel Supreme. Best part is, $1.65/gal.

I have running this stuff for my past 3 fill ups, and there is somewhat of a difference in the way my truck runs. It is just smoother (if that is possible), seems to have slightly better acceleration and my mileage is improving, I have gained 1 mpg over the last 3 fills.

Anyway, I just posted the info for anyone who may be interested.Edited by: Rookiew/Dmax

Too far away for us country hicks... I have noticed a difference between filling up at the BP on Mound and 696 versus my normal spot in Hartland (Mobil on Clyde Rd.). The Mobil runs better for me and also has better fuel mileage. It could be due to stronger winter blend at the BP, but ??????????

How can you tell if it is Supreme? The BP just south of I-69 (near Lapeer) on M-24 has diesel for $1.65, but I didn't see a Supreme label or anything.

So Rookview, do you work in the crack of michigan so you travel by the livonia area? Sure would be a long way for you to fill up on a regular basis. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

I am in the Brighton/Milfordhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif area travelling to Warrenhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif for work. Eventual plans are to wind up with a job at the MPG. Worked there before and got transferred to a different position and now am in Warren. I'm happy though... it's fulfilling work.

Instead of this BP super, I've been thinking of supplementing a bit of Bio in there...

Michigana_Joe - Labeled right on the pump, I asked the clerk to be sure, he gave me a pamphlet that was identical to the postings on their site. I was suprised they had the info right there, must get some questions.

nassdmax - Work in Livonia, great drivehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Throw Up.gif I am sure M-14 is not as bad as 696 though.

Cool http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif, I usually get by there a couple of times every week, & I've been wanting to try Diesel Supreme, so I'll have to stop by & check it out.
BP needs a website listing all their stations that sell Diesel Supreme.

We have a BP station locally that sells BP Supreme diesel, $1.60 gal. It's a fairly large station, but I have no idea how much diesel they sell.

Over on the interstate at the Love Travel Plaza, using my Good Sam card, I currently am paying $1.42. They sell a huge amount of fuel, big trucks, RVs, and pickups.

What is supposed to be so great about BP Supreme? Is it worth the difference? Does it do away with the need for additives? Or is it marketing BS?

Michigana_Joe, the Amoco/BP station in Imlay city sells BP Supreme. Thats where I buy from. Its right off the I-69 freeway(vandyke exit(M-53)), and its a high volume truck stop. So they always have fresh fuel. It does make a difference in fuel economy. On aveage 1 mile per gallon for me.

This BP Supreme fuel has me confused. This is from the site referenced above:

BP Diesel Supreme
BP Diesel Supreme is simply better from the start. That's because BP Diesel Supreme is formulated from straight-run refinery stocks. BP Diesel Supreme offers superior performance with a minimum 50 cetane number, reliable cold weather starts, and long-term storage stability without sludge formation.

Available at selected terminals in OH and KY. Available in Low Sulfur, Low Sulfur Dyed and High Sulfur.

I am in VA and the brand-new BP station has a diesel pump with a BP Supreme label on it. The cetane sticker on this pump is 40. Here is something else from the product information linked in the site above:
APPLICATION
BP Diesel Supreme is recommended for use in all off-road heavy duty vehicles, construction equipment, marine and stationary diesel engine applications requiring a No. 2 diesel fuel. Diesel Supreme is also recommended as a high quality home heating fuel.

THIS FUEL IS FOR OFF-ROAD

PURPOSES ONLY.

Is this an off road fuel only? What gives?

I read the same stuff. The BP near my house in VA Beach says BP Supreme on the diesel pump and also has a sticker on it indicating a minimum of 40 cetane. Here is the confusion:

- BP Supreme is not sold in VA (according to the website)

- If it were, it would be for off-road use only (according to the website)

- The label that says BP Diesel Supreme at the station down the street cannot be right (according to the website)

- If it is indeed the good stuff, why wouldn't they put a 50 cetane sticker for advertisement (according to the website)

It has been said by others that BP has been elusive and/or not very helpful about the availability of this fuel. It would seem that many pull the specs from the website to use as a justification while ignoring the glaring errors/omissions. How can someone recommend a purchase based on information that is contradicted in the very document they are using to justify the purchase?

I have to agree with Kevin. Nothing I have read on the links provided indicates a universally available, highway legal, BP Supreme. The language in the descriptions on the links is ambiguous, and goes in circles. Pumps that are posted for 40 cetane and web sites saying 50 cetane? Gimme a break!!!!!!

Perhaps I'm missing something, and I'm trying to keep an open mind on this issue, as I do want to do everything possible to make this truck last the rest of my driving days.

So if someone can provide a link to info that clarifies this, I'll surely read it.

But in the meantime, I think I'll continue buying my fuel at Love Travel Stop. It's always fresh fuel as they stay VERY BUSY and the price is now down to $1.40. Filter it well and add a good additive and how can you go wrong?

I've been running diesel from All Auto Service, an station my neighbor owns at I-496 and Pennsylvania Ave in Lansing. He claims its top notch stuff. He obviously uses it in his wrecker and also in his motorhome. They used to call it Amoco Premier Diesel. Sometime last year their station converted from Amoco to BP. I haven't paid any attention to what it says on the pump in terms of BP Supreme or anything else. I'll bet Tomac is right - Amoco Premier and BP Supreme are probably one in the same.

I also occasionally run Sunoco from the I-96/M-99 truck stop and also Mobil from the Mobil Express in Eaton Rapids. I don't see any big difference in fuel mileage, but then again, I don't track it that close either.

Michigana_Joe, I believe the Amoco premium is the same as BP Supreme since both companies have merged now. I could be wrong, but I honestly believe they are the same. Even if its not, its still better that regular diesel for me. Like I said it regularly adds 1 mile per gallon to my truck when driving as opposed to regular diesel. I've got reciepts to prove it!

I buy a lot at the same mobil station. It is usually right around six cents less than the meijers at 26 & 53. The Sunoco station you listed is one of my favorites. My wifes office is in New Baltimore so I go that way often. Last summer they were 25-35 cents a gallon less all summer http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif The best fuel I buy any place is a station in Gaylord right across from Jays sporting goods. They offer regular and premium Diesel. Premium is a penny more and I always, ALWAYS get 1-1.5 MPG more with their fuel. I am there at least every other week. There is a BP now on the other side of the 94 and 23 overpass right across from speedway. Right now the bridge is a mess though. I dont know if any of you guys got the XM radio with your MAX buut the new traffic channel for Detroit ( 216 ) is killer.

That 'new' BP is it a new building or the old Marrathaon service station that used to be accross from Speedway?

No XM here, best I got is 950am.

But that Sunoco IS my fav as well. His prices are always less...

And your sure to run into a few others while fueling
