How would you order the tuck just for racing and what goodies would you add.

How fast do you want to go?

Stripper work truck with Manual, A/C delete. Get the posi, get white (easier to custom paint/contingency stickers). Then if you want to go automatic, put a race-build TH400 or Powerglide behind it. Your computer won't care. While getting the Allison to live at 1000HP is an unknown quantity, the TH400's are available off-the-shelf.

BUT.... If you are going for consistant ET's, and are willing to spend more, get 4wd and the Allison.

To get good ET's with a 2wd, you need MUCHO traction. If you are willing to run slicks and mod the suspension, stick with 2wd. 4wd would probably be a more realistic approach for a street truck.

I think the Allison will handle highly modded Diesel much better then the TH400. The Diesel kills the tranny because of the high torque more then the horse power.

But the Allison taps WAY too much horsepower.

A TH-400 in a 4500lb race truck would do just fine in a heavily modded Duramax.

Oh, and the TH-400 is significantly LIGHTER in weight!
