I just bought a 6.2 "J" series engine to replace my "C" series engine that is in my 1986 chevy 1/2 ton,w A/T. The "J" series engine came out of a 1 ton chevy 4x4 and has low miles. Are the injector pumps the same on both these engines? What will I have to do to make the " J " series engine work properly in my pickup. Any advice would be greatly appreciatedhttp://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Question.gif

The only 'big' difference between the C(light duty) and the J(heavy duty) engines is the EGR system in the intake manifold. The intake manifold of a J engine has no EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve and has a less restrictive design, so it will breathe way better than one off a C engine. This EGR valve is installed for enviromental reasons.
If you're just going to switch complete engines you won't encounter any problems.
