Sorry, I originally posted this on another forum.

I'm wondering about the cost of the engine, not the engine plus labor to install it.

2006 LLY and LBZ part numbers are the same right?

id be very surprised if the LBZ had the same part number as the 2004-2005 LLY

To my knowledge, you can't get crate LBZ's yet, but I would suspect upwards of $7000?!?!

Is that including the turbo and such?

$7000 no way, probably double if not more. Extremely expensive engine to build, thats part of the reason its $6,000 to get one in a new truck. Will never see a crate engine, the price would be the deal killer.

I was thinking 7K for just motor, no turbo, lines...maybe I'm way off though!

I would assume it would be in the ballpark of an LB7 if we are talking short blocks or longblocks (whatever that figure is....7K sounds close :) ).

Like you say, if his talking fully dressed (turbo, intercooler, etc., then that is a different story).

A LB7 crate minus turbo is about $7500 plus about $3,000 for a core.

According to my source, the part # for both LLY & LBZ is the same??!! Part # 97779347. He said "Dealer Cost" is $6,100 & it would be a "Long Block." Wasn't sure if it included a turbo or not? Howard

I heard today that a replacemnt LBZ long block is around 12k. I paid over 6k for the Dmax option but you have to remember, this cost is over and above the price of the 8.1

:exactly: What I was just going to say.

You also got to remember everything that is included with that 6 grand option. If I recall somewhere I read just the diesel is around $2500.00 more than the 8.1. All that other stuff in the power package adds up as well.

replaced one not long ago and it came as a assembly line prep complete oil pan to turbo including oil and fuel in the filter. the cost to the dealer was
14.650 so im sure a long block would be considerably less.

2500HD Drivetrains

6.0L Gas/4L80/G80............$1,420.00
8.1L Gas/Allison/G80..........$3,570.00
Diesel LBZ/Allison/G80........$7,555.00

So the LBZ/Ally is $6,135 more than the 6.0, and $3,985 more than the 8.1.
