if the hours are around 1/3 of the mileage thats normal. 700 hours=21,000 miles as an example. thats seems about right

avg speed looks to be 27.3 mph (43.7km/hr) so it's not too bad, it didn't spend its time hauling down the highway.

1 hour idling is equivalent to 33 miles of driving.

Interesting stat... Where does that come from?

I'm thinking the higher the average speed the better (less stop and go)? However, you have no way to gauge what loads those hours/miles were under.

Checked my hours for a survey and had 1485 hours at 57,993 for average of 39 miles per hour driven on my 04 LB7.

’03 and up with the DIC will have it in there. If you don’t have DIC, push in the trip set twice.

BTW, I have 89k on my 03, about 3100 hrs.

On an 01, with the key off, just press and hold the trip-reset..the hours will appear...:)

I assume you meant 1/30 the mileage, since 700 X 30=21,000:D

1/3 would be 3 MPH.

i checked my mileage and my hours today. mine came out to be approx 2500 hrs and approx 58000 miles. if i do your calculations i have more hours than miles. should be around 75k for miles. is that a bad thing??

For whatever its worth. My 04 has 88550 miles and 2693.3 for hours. I ran oversized tires without a speedometer correction for over a year. Not sure if the odometer was correct or not. But assuming it was i guess the math would say i did 32.87 for an average speed.

If you have 2500 hrs. and 58000 miles, your average comes out to 23.2 MPH.

My 03 has 18,900 with 1804 hours. My truck is driven 99% time local. I think it was on interstate 3 or 4 times. Do backwards miles add into the count? [snow plowing]

If you run 285/75/16 and have not re-adusted your speedo you will register 9 tenths of a mile for every mile driven.Your speed will be off by 4-5 miles and hour so if you ran oversize tires since it was new you could get a extra 3600 miles out of warranty you have to do the math on fuel as well.

[snow plowing]You are averaging 10.5 miles per hour. I would say that is normal if you are doing a lot of snow plowing. Yes, the odo does count miles in reverse.

With that kind of miles per hour ratio, you may want to consider servicing your truck according to the hours rather than miles. Generally 200 hours will be around 6,000 miles under typical driving conditions. You can set your service intervals accordingly.

I change oil every 3000 mile. I put about 9,000 mile year on my work trucks. during summer cutting crew trucks get 12 to 25 miles with 15-20 stops. Landscaping truck either spend all day hauling or drive to job site and park all day.

63K and 1450+/- hours on mine. Average of about 43mph.

When I bought my truck it was owned by an old guy that used it driving back and forth to Florida and that was about it.
