: Got Mega?
BMDMAX 03-25-2004, 04:06 PM I just finished up my Kennedy Mega filter kit install on the truck. The filter install was a breeze.
The truck is running fantastic. No stalls or stumbles, just smooth power. The truck seems to be running quieter and more responsive on the better filtered fuel. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif
The truck just wants to run. I went from 40 to 110 doing some testing and it was stoopid fast with nary a hiccup.
The kit was very complete and exceptionally well made. There was a lot of detail and attention paid to the design and machining of the filter head. It should be a Mega Cannon kit because that is how big the filter is! It looks like stuff you would see on a OTR rig for sure. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif
I am very pleased with the setup. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Up.gif It should be interesting to see if there are any changes with my numbers on the upcoming dyno day at Garmon's Diesel.
Mackin 03-25-2004, 04:28 PM Pre or Post OEM ??

BMDMAX 03-25-2004, 04:36 PM Post OEM. I thought it might be a pain getting to the lines but it was pretty easy with the intake removed. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Geek.gif
JEBar 03-25-2004, 04:52 PM Congratulations on adding your Mega ... had John install one (post OEM) on my truck about a year ago .... got an e-mail from him today and he anticipates having his lift pump kit ready for sale very soon .... my truck's Mega does have to be bled after sitting overnight after it gets over 125 miles or so on it so I am looking forward to installing his lift pump

I think we got that little snag worked out on my truck. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wink.gif

Amric 03-25-2004, 07:16 PM It will be interesting to see if it effects your track times any. You do not have a lift pump correct?
problemchild 03-25-2004, 08:25 PM Is it mounted on the engine or frame?
BMDMAX 03-26-2004, 12:17 AM Amric,
Actually, I do now have a lift pump.
PC, the filter is mounted underneath the airbox plate in the dead space forward of the wheelwell. It mounts slick as a whistle there and it is easy to connect the lines to the filter head in that location. It is easy to service as well.
So far the results are very positive just from driving the truck.

sky1 ... it is my understanding that many (if not most) folks who have chosen to mount additional filtration post OEM have experienced air build-up in their filters that from time to time has to be bled ... it also appears that most folks who have added a small lift pump before the OEM filter have resolved this problem ... having no desire to heat up the ongoing debate on Pre/Post OEM or on brands of aftermarket filtration, I am happy with my decision to add a Mega

4G634EVER 03-26-2004, 06:10 PM I've Mega installed since 18K on my 03, and now it has 31K and I've never had to bleed the filter once! :) Never had and problem with this truck at all for that matter, except the gauge cluster would quit working(been taken care of)

Sounds like a nice setup. It will be *REALLY* interesting to see if your dyno results are still as good as they were!

I have been doing some tweaking with the truck so I am expecting good results. Working with the right people goes a long way to generate ideas for making power that is for sure. Moving plenty of fuel will not be a problem, I can guarantee that. I wish there was a way to get more air without bottle feeding but I may break down yet and throw some nitrous at it. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif
Either way it will give the resident dyno experts more fat to chew on......
