How soon is too soon to tow a 2000lb trailer with a new 3500 D/A LBZ, how many miles of breakin driving does it need to have. Mike Z

I would say right away, the lbz wont even break a sweat with a 2000# trailer

I don't know for sure, but seems I read where you should put at least 500 miles on your truck before towing. What does your owners manual say?

I just pulled 14,000 lbs with my new LBZ which only had about 900 miles on it. It was terrific. Just do it. BTW, your fishing avatar is way nicer than mine.

It says there is no elaborate break in procedure, but to keep your speed around 55 for the first 500 miles, vary your speed, and don't tow during the break in period. That answers that. Mike Z

I don't think towing a 2,000lb trailer is what GM considers towing, at least not with a Duramax. A 14,000lb trailer on the other hand would be. A Duramax and the rest of the drivetrain won't even know it has a 2,000lb trailer behind it.
