I was wondering what lights you have found to work well as work lights on the rear of your truck. I am looking to mount some as reverse lights (I have some hellas now but they are more of a spot type pattern) and I am also going to mount some higher up to use as work lamps. Any info would be appreciated.

Nobody has any info? I am looking at the PIAA 1500 backup lamps. Does anyone have any experience with them?

KC has a kit that comes with two lights, relay, wire and some misc stuff. They are rectangular and come in plastic housings. You wire them up to the current back up lights, or could run an extra switch (not included). The lights are a flood lamp design, and I think 55 watts.

Hi
I bought a set of tractor lites (rubber housing, simple single bolt attachment, replacement Hella element), welded an L shaped of 3/4" x 1/8" flat stock to each side of the OEM hitch. Bolted the lites to this "bracket". Used a "Painless Wiring" switch/relay kit, lots of zip ties.
Total cost was under 70.00.
We haul horses and cow around the Sierras. Wife hasn't been able to hit to anything while backing either with or without the trailers since! Nor have I!!):h
They even light up the tack room door area when we are out late.

I have 4 5x7 100w KC lights mounted on my back rack. I bought the flood lenses for them and man, they make it day time! They're like 168,000 candle power or something. I can take some pics for ya if it stops snowing...

I has this kit on my last truck and it worked very well. The one thing I would recommend is to use a heavy gauge wire (i.e 10) and run it directly to the battery. Makes them nice and bright.

If you have the towing package, there is a heavy gage wire there that is used to charge the trailer batteries. That's a good place to draw the power from.:)

To whoever moved this, just a question/suggestion. No problem that it was moved (BTW, thanks mods, y'all do a really good job!), but I couldn't decide whether to put it under "Exterior" or "Electrical" so I put it under exterior because the title of exterior says:

Exterior
Discuss body work, molding, paint, lighting, etc.

You might want to remove the "lighting" part of the title if you want all the lighting stuff under electrical.

I use McDermott Lights 312A http://www.mcdermottlight.com/images/312a.jpg available here (http://www.mcdermottlight.com/catalog/super_grill_lights.htm) The yellow lense is separate from the light, and can be removed without adverse effects.
