I haven't towed with my truck for a couple months so I haven't used the tow haul mode. I just tried the other day and it will not light on the dash. Is there a fuse or a plug or wire that could of become disconnected underneth on the trans? We have had quite a bit of deep snow lately. I'm wondering if th3 snow has dislodged something? Any thoughts?

Most likely the wires are broken in the gear shift.

Is your Tow/Haul not working at all or just the light on the Dash not working ?

:exactly: This seems like a common problem. I changed out my gear shift lever last year, but a simple solder job would have fixed it. Now I have a spare!

Dealer changed mine, broken wires. $394.00 later, fixed.:eek:

The light on the dash doesn't work and I think the tow haul mode doesn't work either. Won't kick down to lower gear. Where do you solder the wires that are loose? My truck is an 03 crew cab.

Wires are really thin and very prone to break - I have fixed mine several times by soldering the break.

Where are the wires located? Are they under that rubber boot where the gear shift lever goes into the steering column?

Remove the bottom plastic steering column cover.

What am I looking for once I get the cover off? What color are the wires, or will it be that obvious. My switch hasn't worked since I got the truck.

gm has had problems with blinker armatures for years, now it sounds like they switched to the other side of the steering column.

There are 2 orange wires running down the column from the shift lever; they shouldn't be hard to see with the cover removed.
