My truck came without cruise. I bought a stalk from the dealership with the cruise button. Hooked it up and I don't have cruise. What else do I need to do. I read a few threads that said it was plug and play. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I actually have no clue on what you do. But, I can give you my experience on a Ford I bought last year. It too came with no cruise. I bought a cruise 'kit' from the ford dealer. This came with a new steering wheel, brake pedal switch, and throttle actuator. I paid the dealer to install this and it cost $525 out the door. Fords, too, were supposed to be plug and play and I almost simply tried to buy the steering wheel. Well, it turns out that the internet sometimes is NOT the spot for all info.
Ask a dealer is my hard won advice.

This is real old info. Anyone remember J.C.Whitney? Bought a cruise from them back some time ago, the 70's. Put it on a buddies Bronco. If it worked at all the Bronco would live up to it's name, it looked like a three year old kid trying to learn to use a clutch. Problem was proper grounding on the 12v circuit. At least it is some place to start looking. Good luck.

There should be a diecast aluminum box on the firewall in the engine bay. This is the actual "control" that has a cable running to the throttle. It may be different now, but it used to be that if you didn't order cruise you didn't get the box with your truck. I think wurk truk is right with his list of add ons to make it work, even if he did use the F word. :D

None of the GM diesels have had a throttle cable since '93. The cruise control works entirely through the computer.

no need for all that drama. on our '04 work truck we just bought a cruise stalk via ebay for $100-ish and plugged it in and it worked. that's it. no reprogramming necessary!
