Is it possible to install a fuel pressure gauge on the Dmax and if so where would you do so? Just curious, thinking about doing this.

there is a test port on the front of the motor that fits a kent-moore gauge.

Ok what is a Kent-moore gauge? You got me on that one? I guess my question was more geared towared installing an autometer gauge that is a fuel pressure gauge. Is this possible so that I can see this inside the cab?Edited by: GMC2500HD

the kent moore guage measures vaccum for diag. no psi is given.at 23k psi i would not want any guage in my truck.
if it leaked you would never get the smell out.

Well that would not be good. It was just an idea anyway. Thanks

That is not a bad idea. You are thinking mechanical instead of electronic. There is a pressure transducer in the system that the Tech II reads from. There is probably an industrial gauge that could read it but the price would be out of sight. Later! Frank

I am waiting on a Mallory fuel isolator designed for low press/vac service which is on back order. The cost of the isolator is about $63. With this you can use a electric gauge and sender which is about $120 or a mechanical one which is about $53. You would use glycerine, silicone oil, antifreeze or any other safe liquid on the gauge/cab side. As soon as I get the install completed I will be posting pics. The wife commented that my dash cubby hole had junk in it. So I decided to do her a favor and cover it with a gauge. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

I almost forgot to mention. I also decided to use a angle ring to aim the gauge slightly toward the drivers side. Edited by: a bear

John,

Has this gauge become available yet. Excellant span/resolution. And liquid filled at that. After working somewhat with the Kent Moore I would say this one is a definite improvement.

I've had the bid(s) for a few months now, and the couplers even longer! FINALLY going to pull the trigger this week. May take a couple of weeks yet...

Also looking at 30"/15psi unit or simply psi unit w/o vacuum for the setup of higher psi supply pumps as over psi will wreck the gauge.

Carry/storage case, coupler plug (keep dirt out of gauge coupler when not in use),and hose option also planned...

Never thought about it but this is a good point to remember since the shrader port is after the filters.

A BEAR, let me know if you figure something out. I would like to have the gauge in the truck just for grins. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif Something else to look at. I am going to be running the Cobalt gauges in the truck and they make a nice fuel pressure gauge as well.

the guage you are using not kent moore I need one dealer wont buy on and i dont want to pay for one even at gm cost to a tech its expensive.if you made it and have a price let me know....

I think between all the tech guys and the smart diesel motor guys we should be able to figure something out that will work. I know more people on here know about that motor and have the knowledge to be able to do something like this. Where are you guys?

Haven't finalized the price, but it should be under the KM price. I'm guessing $150 or so. The details are still being worked out.

Abear,

I gotta wonder how much crap gets sucked in on a non pressurized system each time a filthy coupler is attached. Figure a guy could clean with ether or carb cleaner and plug it to keep clean...
