I was wondering what air bags should I go with on my 06' GMC 2500HD crew cab, long bed and what controller and compressor, so I can adjust them from inside the cab. I'll be hauling a 40' Pace enclosed trailer for my sprint car. Thanks guys

I went with the Airlift Superduty Bag set and the Sureset controller/compressor package. So far I love it and I can't complain very easy to install took a 4hrs and standard tools!

Pit, where did you purchase your bags and controller at and if you have a web address to them. Thanks for your help.

summitracing.com for Air Lift or truckspring.com for Firestone Air Ride. If you will running a constant load you might want to check out Timbren. I put a set of Timbren's on my truck. No air lines and no chance of a puntured air bag plus about $155 for the set. Truckspring sells them. Do a search on the web for places that sell them or air bags. Also check ebay.

a friend of mine who has a d/a actually goes with the ford bags for his chevy. his reasoning is that the ford bags mount directly below the frame, and the chevy's are off to the side.

i found that pretty interesting................

The Firestone bags on mine mount directly below the frame. The brackets bolt up in place of the axle bumpstop. I set my system up with a VIAIR compressor and the dual manual controls mounted in the overhead console. It was a bit of a chore to route the air lines up above the headliner, but it is a slick setup when its done. I put the tank pressure and dual needle air bag pressure gauges in a "Trippen mount" and wired the compressor to turn on with one of the auxiliary switches next to the gauges. I also added an air chuck in the bed of the truck so I can air up tires on the truck or trailer when necessary.

I prefer the Air Lift bags with Sureset controller. Excellent pieces, and generally kept here in stock.

I'm with John on this one. When looking into which would be better back in 2002, I decided that Airlift was the better ones. And after 3 1/2 years, they continue to work as good as the day I installed them.

Yep. Airlift Superduty for me. Self-installed in Feb. '02, never a glitch. I decided not to go with the on-board compressor and glad I didn't. It takes so little air to fill em up you can do it with a 12V compressor in about a minute. If you do it this way, run the fill lines seperately, DO NOT tie them together with a "T". This will prevent air transfer from one bag to the other when going around a corner, uneven loading or unlevel ground.

Bro-

I bought my set for both from summitracing.com however Kennedydiesel.com has them as well. JK is excellent I hear for customer service etc...It's too late for me but not you.

Let me know where you mount ur compressor. I am mounting mind up under the front bumper. I can't put it in the frame rails because of the river and dunes.

Nope, I haven't raced there yet. I've raced Chico, Marysville, Placerville (Home Track), Petaluma, Hanford, Tulare, Calistoga, and all the Oregon tracks as well.
