Just wondering, when changing the differential fluid, is it necessary to remove and replace the cover with a new gasket or is there another way?

There are drain holes for both the front and rear. No need to remove the cover at all. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

Hey Max, whats up?

How about the Transfer case? I think I see two bolts like the Diffs. that are drain and fill bolts. They have white stuff on the threads, is this the way to do the trans. case?

Also, can I use the same Mobil 1 Syn. 75-90 in the front case and transfer case?

Look on the Maintenance Ref by dmaxallitech, transfer case gets ATF.

I was just about to change the fluid on the rear dif at 13,000, and had a couple questions.

Since the truck is just breaking in, is it good to take the cover off so that I get at the metal shards that might be in there?

Also, $30 a quart is pretty steep for the GM fluid, any thoughts here?

Thanks.

Hell ya $30 is rediculous and I refuse to pay those bandits at the dealer! They want $32 at my dealer-bastards http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif

Thats why I chose to use the Mobil 1 synthetic 75-90 at $4.99/qt. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif
