Here's what Trailer Life says.
See center lower page, "Tow Ratings".

Depends on CC vs Xcab...4X4 or 4X2...6' bed or 8' bed, etc. However the max tow for any D/A 2500 is 15900 and that's on a reg cab 4X2 8' bed. Lowest tow for any D/A 2500 is 13200 and that's on a 4X4 CC 8' bed. Everything else falls in between. Check here: http://www.chevrolet.com/silverado/specifications/

If the pin weight is above 2000 lbs (which I suspect it is), they will probably want to look at something else. I have a '03 2500HD (as in my sig) that weighs in right around 7200 lbs loaded for travel. Since the GVWR of the 2500HD is 9200 lbs....you can do the math! The interesting thing to note though was the GAWR for the front axle. With the D/A combo, I am within 300lbs of the front axle GAWR!!!

Unfortunately, I don't have the exact numbers in front of me (will post again if I wander out to the truck after dinner).....but the bottom line is that if they want to stay within the "letter of the law", they should probably look at a 3500....

Anything over 30 ft. with the 2500 HD is probably too much pin wt.My truck weighs 7400 lbs. w/ a gvwr of 9200 which leaves 1800lbs. for max pin wt.the truck is only rated to tow 13,200 lbs.max loaded trailer wt.With a gvcwr of 22,000 lbs. Most toy haulers require a dually too long & heavy for the 2500.After buying the 2500 for a fifth wheel I think most should get a 3500 for the extra pin wt.But right now the one I have is nothing to pull w/ the 2500.

I would recommend that you added airbags. This really helped the ride and kept the trailer from "bucking" to much. My 5er is a double axle, so the raptors triple may help with this.

I tow a Forest River F37, about the same size and weight as the raptor. the truck will not have any issues towing the trailer. I am not debating the weight may be more then the specs but the trailer will not have any issues towing the weight.

Click on this link.http://www.gmc.com/sierra/specsDimension.jsp?vehicle=2500hd
Scroll down and click on "Towing Capacities"
Scroll down about 2/3rd of the way down to "Manual and Automatic Transmission Ratings with 5th Wheel or Gooseneck Hitch"This should give him all that he wants to know.
