: Uh oh.....
Blinky 03-22-2004, 02:59 PM I recently (last weekend) experienced an SES light and loss of power...
Replaced the fuel filter.... All was good, SES light went out. Issue resolved....... Nope.
Driving today, SES light loss of power again. Take to the dealer on the way to work.....
They just called and say it's the injectors.... http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif but would't tell me what code was set...
No power adders, ever, no secondary filtration.
59,950 miles.......http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif
They also say they aren't going to replace them all..... I already have a copy of TSB 04-06-04-007, we shall see.......
Will update this post after my visit with my service writer and the tech this afternoon.
Soon to be drivin' a rental car....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif
mannytranny 03-22-2004, 03:28 PM That sucks. But it does sound like a good time to put on a second fuel filter...
RonJT 03-22-2004, 03:51 PM Blinky,
I am sorry to hear about the injectors. Please keep us informed on how the dealer handles your case.
BTW: Which GMC dealer are you going with?
Ron

Tustin Buick GMC, Tustin CA... They've been great to deal with so far...
YZF1R 03-22-2004, 07:21 PM Sorry to hear that Blinky. I'm sure they did the tests to see that it's an injector, and the codes should have also pointed them to that. It just makes me wonder that a fuel filter fixed it last week. If the injectors were bad, I don't see how changing the fuel filter would instantly fix it as it did last week. If you had a bad load of fuel, it may take a few filters untill all the crap is out of that tank. Depends on the amount of dirt or whatever, how many miles between filters, etc. I'm not saying they don't know what they're doing. Just thinking out loud. dmaxalliTech or anyone else, any comments?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif

It was funny if you don't have an 01. I was LOL anyway. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif Of course, I have a lift pump and 2 extra filters, which does give one more piece of mind.
Blinky 03-22-2004, 11:31 PM Well..............
They are going to replace all 8 http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif
Th tech even took the time to take me back to the station where she was.... Nice guy. even hooked the OBD.... Said it set a P00039 twice? (Fuel Leak)
He couldn't get the truck to hold anything above 15,000 PSI on the fuel rail.
Dmaxallitech does this mean anything?
Anyway, hopefully I'll know more tomorrow.......

I heard Eric and crew were looking for a lost Hacky-sack shortly after you left. Maybe it's been riding on one of your pistons...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif
I was fine after the head job. This knock developed over the last month or so. A very subtle hollow knock that you can hear from the passenger wheelwell. It gets louder and speeds up on acceleration then goes away after hitting second gear. If it was a gas motor I'd be saying it's a bearing. It has that sound. With this motor, being diesel and a newer design... I can't say for sure.
Big decisions....
Wait it out?
Take it in?
Trade it in?Edited by: hoot

Eight new injectors are being installed.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
It pays to know what you're talking about and be persistant. Great news!
