I'm looking for an HD replacement clutch for my 05 8.1. Thinking about pulling it some this year along with my diesel(might even give the wife a try). I know the stocker won't last long, not the way I drive anyway.:)
Thanks for the help in advance

I would try centreforce. South Bend clutch likely has something as well.

I would imagine that the 8.1 uses a solid flywheel but i dont know for sure, but i believe i have seen disk and pressure plates for sale from centerforce, zoom and luk for these trucks maybe try them, but of course if it would happen to have a dmf you would need to replace that first,

I ssuspect the bell housing and rear engine block plate are different on 8.1 vs duramax so the clutch kit/flywheel will be different. but you could as a dealer parts guy if they use the same flywheel.

The bell housing is exactly the same as the duramax but the flywheel and clutch is different. It is a flat flywheel with a standard 12 inch pressure plate pattern so it should be easy to upgrade to whatever grade clutch you would like easily.

Cool, that means the SBC single disc kit should work fine on an 8.1 :ro)

I doubt the kit for a Duramax would work directly the factory 8.1 pressure plate has an odd finger height.

If so a duramax SC would solve the problem since the bell housing, tranny and engine block rear plate are the same.

What's a Duramax SC Deadeye?

Craig i think he means slave cylinder. Sounds like it would be easier to just buy the right clutch.

The Duramax and the 8100 slave cylider are the same.

Yeah thats what i thought, The 8.1 has the wierd fingers to take up some of the distance that would be takn by the DMF in a Dmax application so i understand after talking to a GM tech.

So, if the tranny is the same, the SC is the same, the crankshaft "head" is the same, the bell housing is the same, the rear engine block plate is the same you should be able to replace the flywhell, clutch, PP with either CPMacs or SBC diesel kit and it will fit and work.

No Deadeye the crank is not the same and the dimensions from the back of the block to the end of the crank are different. The bolt pattern on the back of the block is the same though.
