: How do you remove the mirror covers to paint them?

I'm talking about the center section that is painted on some GM vehicles but not on our trucks. This thread had them painted...

but I got no response when I asked how they were removed.
I'm gonna assume you have to remove the glass first.
Thanks for any help, as I plan to have mine painted to match the truck.

Pull the glass out and you'll see the clips. If you remove them, you should rplace them, the clips weaken and/or break. You can order new ones that come pained. A good body/paint guy can sand and paint them without removing anything...

Sorry, didnt see your question. They are only held on by double sided tape on my truck. Depending on your color you may be able to order them from the dealer already painted in your color (smooth of course). I picked mine up for $66 but they dont offer my color. If you see where the seam is on the front of the mirror use a small flat tip screw stick and pry an edge up. It works best if the mirror has been sitting in the sun for a little bit to warm up the tape. PM me if this isnt clear enough, I may be able to find the instructions that came with them and scan them.
